Georgia = Bama in terms of resources and potential. Past is nice but has no bearing on future

Georgia is one of the most fertile grounds for talent. He’s an alum as well. The only reason Bama is relevant is because of Saban. When he leaves, so does it’s relevance

Having to replace Saban is going to be the most thankless job in the history of college football.

Well, Bama only had one legit title before he came...and that was a long time ago...

That’s not correct according to your own methodology.

Not even close. But some of you prescribe to revisionist history.

By what metrics do we gauge relevancy? Just national titles? What about conference titles? All time wins? Series history with conference opponents?

Smart went to UGA. He’s not leaving for any other job.

Its nice having 2 all-time great coaches that stuck around for incredibly long tenures without being lured away by the NFL or other schools. But in the 25 years or so between Bear Bryant and Saban, Alabama is a middle of the pack SEC team over that span. Enjoy it while it lasts because its unlikely that the guy who eventually replaces Saban will be able to come close to his level of success

Why would Smart leave Georgia. That’s his retirement job and has proven he can do everything there he can at Alabama.

Alabama won a national title and multiple conference titles in the years between 1982-2007.

I would think that rational fans believe there will be immense pressure on the next coach. Replicating Saban’s success will be impossible. But the next coach would inherit a great program.

Possibly, but these aren't the days of old. The transfer portal can nuke a whole roster in about a days time now. You're going from the GOAT to whom?

It's gonna get really interesting around TTown when Saban hangs it up.

I came back into this thread and just wow. Some of the responses here are just idiotic and shows the continued obsession, WOW. LOL at you who think that Bama is just another program. We were good before Saban and will be after CNS, regardless of how many NC you want to debate.
