They were one of the OGs when it came to booster bucks

They have a large enrollment. Decades of athletic success.

No state income tax

I don’t get it.

FSU does not have all the billionaire donors LSU has.

FSU is 437 million in debt for athletics .

Actually, of the big 4 state schools (UF, USF, UCF, FSU), Florida State is the smallest undergrad enrollment.

There's no children's hospitals in the Tally area.

It’s actually pretty simple.
The biggest reason is the ACCs tv deal sucks. Outside of Miami, all ACC schools are struggling to keep up.
Close second is poor decision making by leadership. They’ve chosen to spend poorly and worse every time they’ve postured the ACC to get something for themselves it’s backfired.
There’s also an alarming level of apathy there

Bad leadership. A litany of bad decisions. No fiscal accountability. Jimbo.

Also, have you been to Tallahassee?

It's a relatively small, compact urban campus and I think their med school is relatively new (20-something years old).

FSU doesn't have the same enrollment and long-term community hospital/business sponsor ties as UF and Miami.

They have a lot of debt but aren’t really “poor” as they have ways and a willingness to find money

It’s the same talking point as all the people who say LSU is “broke” yet lsu keeps finding money to throw around for hiring LK and NIL for big time players

People just say shite without having any clue what they’re talking about

They equate FSU’s lack of success with a lack of funds.. so basically it’s just a talking point on the internet.

If they don’t get the coach they want, I doubt it’s because they flat out couldn’t afford him

I swear it has been like Yosemite Sam (FSU) negotiating with Bugs Bunny (the ACC).

FSU: Give me 12!
ACC: 8
FSU: 11!
ACC: 7

This is an understatement. An SEC per school payout averages around $62+ million per year and can top out at $75 million, Big10 averages $65 million per school. The ACC average per school payout is $20 million. Bonus money is available if you are a playoff team. And they are locked into that deal through 2036.

The ACC cut their own throat with that deal.

Jimbo.

?

He left them, they didn't have a buyout. And he brought them success and national spotlight again, which had to make money. A&M actually paid FSU $7m when he left
