How do you think coaches feel when they realize they weren't a schools first choice?

Mullen was #3 on Stricklin's list way back when. Coached like it, too.

Don't think many coaches are vindictive in that kind of manner, most know it's a business

They probably get over it when they get the big money contract even though they were 2 or 3.

Rich Rodriguez was Bama’s first choice in 2006

I guess you’ll get the chance to ask whoever Florida ends up hiring.

Wish they would've gotten him too.

I would think most of the time they can read the room and understand it based on recent success, ranking, etc. But once the money comes in, it is hard to have any negative feelings if it is a job you want.

You were not your wife’s first choice. Let that marinate.

Probably depends on the coach but I’d be fine not being top choice for millions in guaranteed money

Same way you felt when you married your wife. Were you her first?
Probably not…
Probably not…

I think coaches are like every other group of people in that they arent some monolith of thought.
Some guys are probably egotistical and get bent out of shape about it.
Some are probably grounded and think "man i want that job bad, theres a lot of good candidates, im lucky it worked out for me"
Some are probably reasonable and think "Gun to my head theres probably a job or 2 out there that id take over this one, so how can i be mad if they have a guy they like better than me"
But i think money and oppurtunity is a good thing for most adults and they wouldnt let ego ruin it.
