How do the USC facilities compare to the top programs?

i've heard from USC people that they're pretty shitty

If the rumors re: NCAA sanctions are true, I find it very hard to believe a even somewhat reputable coach (JDR, Jeff Fisher) would even consider the USC job.
I'd think they'd have to reach for a coach desperate for a D1 job and is willing to ride out any sanctions.
If there are no impending penalties, then USC can pretty much hire whoever they want.

Why do you say that? Wouldn't a donor base like USC's have more money to throw around?

They aren't all that great. If you have never been to the Coliseum, it is a dump.

I know that the Athletic Department has its own budget but USC is an extremely rich school and has excellent academics to boot.
It has around $4 billion and must be in the top 20-25 in endowments.
Given their popularity in the last decade and the aforementioned info , in the absence of any link/first hand info from a USC player, I would tend to lean towards "the haves" than the "have nots"
ETA: I am not referring to the Colisseum - merely the campus facilities (even given that they have a small campus)

No. Have you been to the Coliseum lately? $C officials have fought with the Coliseum Commission about wanting better maintenance and upgrades. I was hoping at one point that $C would be able to purchase the Coliseum. Like most government bureaucracies, the L.A. Coliseum Commission is a waste of taxpayer money.
The other facilities are okay but not as nice as LSU or any of the SEC schools. Remember, $C is just south of downtown so there is no room to add more things.

It is ridiculous that y'all can't purchase the Coliseum. I would loved to actually see it repaired and maintained as opposed to the very slovenly job that the L.A. Coliseum Commission has done.

When Arnold was talking about selling off state properties, I was hoping we'd have the chance. There's no reason the city and state need it at this point. It's not like any major events are going to come there in its current condition. SC would actually put up the money to make it a usable venue again

I know. It is inexcusable how bad the Coliseum is looking these days. There are more and more cracks in it that need to be addressed. If SC owned it, those things would be repaired along with improving the grounds around it.
The Coliseum Commission is one of the biggest jokes in this city.

USC's facilities are pretty basic at the most. If they had Oregons, LSU's or Texas type facilities, imagine how great they would recruit

How old is the Coliseum? I know it was around for the 84 Olympics, but was it around for that. Also as it been refurbished since 84? If I remember right, when they got rid of Hackett, they were saying that they would redo the Coliseum and make it better for the new coach. I never did hear if they did it or not.

SC borders S Central and is an island surrounded by gangster neighborhoods, the Coliseum is a shite hole, and practice facilities and other infrastructure are sub-standard by SEC standards. The allure of SC is the winning brand, media coverage, and glitz of LA.

The first football game was played there in 1923. It was the host for the 1932 Olympics as well. Some work has been done but not like it should be.
