I almost had a Tennessee level melt in real life. IIRC, it was bad here and on the rant.

frick ALLEVA!

I never thought anyone could top Joe Dean as the shittiest AD in LSU history, but I learned never to say never. Also, LSU needs to steer clear of ADs named Joe. Joe Alleva is a fricking clown.

I felt like after we whiffed on Herman and Jimbo the year before that it was a settle hire. Was not thrilled. Felt he was Cajun Les

I went full Fukushima. Was making threads against the hire constantly

When Burrow announced he was coming to LSU… man, that was some serious hype. I was calling Burrow a heisman winner before he even announced

It was bad. Not only was it bad, but the other fan based instantly had material to rile everyone up so that made it worse.

The thing about Tigerdroppings is that, when it comes to hirings and other forward-looking decisions, there will never ever ever ever be a meltdown AFTER the decision is announced--only leading up to the potential decision, when the thing people don't like is still just one of several possibilities. After that, this board invariably convinces itself that it is actually the greatest thing that's ever happened.

The hiring of O as HC is a perfect example. In the lead-up, the consensus opinion was that it would be a complete and utter disaster to hire O as HC. Once it happened, though, the consensus instantly shifted to "the CEO model is genius because he will provide elite recruiting, and the money we save on him will go towards always having the best-of-the-best coordinators". Once O was announced as HC, you couldn't bring up even the slightest potential concern without being downvoted to absolute shite.

Make no mistake: The same thing will happen here. Whoever we hire will be instantly bumped up to an indisputable top 3 HC in the country in the mind of this board. Even if it's Mark Stoops, the narrative will be "he's the best program-builder in the entire country. look what he's done with a complete cellar-dweller in Kentucky. He will have LSU contending for championships within 3 years, you just watch. We will have our normal wall around the state except now we'll also have an elite pipeline to the midwest. etc etc etc."

I feel like I'd find myself taking shots of Henny and Patron until Sunday if I did that.

Melt. I just lurked back then but I was having a personal melt.

There were of course a handful of mouth breathers on here that thought it was great because he talked like them.

Can you regale us? I feel some of the chicken littles on this site need evidence of what an actual failed coaching search looks like.

there were a lot more than you would think. Won't admit it now though.

It was by far my worst melt since I started frequenting this site.

I was sitting in the deer stand Nov 2016 when it was announced. Threw my phone out of my deer blind like a pissed off teenager.

I'm new here, but have seen this reference many times. I am mystified as to it's meaning...what, pray tell, is the "tBinder?"

Legend has it that Derek Pomnamsky made a binder that O presented to Alleva. Apparently it was filled with grand plans for the program. Perhaps identifying Les’ faults and how O would fix them. Alleva was impressed. I believe O later said on the record that he didn’t even know what was in it.
