I'm not really for nor against Orgeron. Do I think we can do better? Honestly, I'm not sure. Look at Georgia and Kirby Smart. Look at Florida and Jim McElwain. Look at Texas and Charlie Strong. Look at USC and Clay Helton. Just because you are a premier program doesn't mean you're entitled to nor deserve an elite coach.

However, jumping off the bandwagon after an Alabama loss is pretty petty in my opinion. Orgeron has been coaching all of four games. He's got the tight ends coach calling plays as offensive coordinator and a quarterback who couldn't lock in the starting job at Purdue running the offense. Not only that, they are going against arguably one of the best defenses of all-time.

What did you realistically expect to change in this short period of time? An up-tempo, air raid offense? Get real...

Let's see how he does the next three games and then make the final judgement.

They gave up 43 to Ole Miss

Actually, they gave up 36 to Ole Miss. One touchdown was from a fumble return. Also, two of their touchdowns came within 2:30 remaining in the fourth quarter when Alabama was up 48-30.

But you're right, their defense isn't that good.

I agree. But it did show that he either 1) had absolutely nothing to do with our offensive production from the first three games and it was all on SE, or 2) he did, but got completely figured out and was unable to help adjust in any way. It showed that he will always have to rely on elite coordinators to have any level of success offensively. It's hard to tell what if any contribution he has on defense when we know Aranda is a defensive mastermind and is running things.

I just question what he brings to the table other than recruiting. Should we pay 3 million dollars for a recruiting coordinator?

If LSU wins out I don't think Joe A. has a sack of balls big enough to hire anyone but CEO. All the glitz of a good finish to the season will overshadow the Bama loss if LSU performs well in the final games. The pressure will mount on him for the "local" guy, which gets everyone's blood boiling, to lead the Tigers. It's unfortunate, but it's Joe A. Look back to last November. I for one hope he doesn't cave to the pressure.

go back to 2002 in order to find the previous shutout in this rivalry. It was once again an Alabama win, 31-0 over the Tigers, with Saban coaching LSU at the time. Dennis Franchione coached Alabama

That has to be an indictment against nick saban. couldn't score or make adjustments against Franchione.

SE has done well, allowing our players to play. But we need an actual OC, especially when going up against a Saban defense. Keep O or not, that's just a fact.

I completely agree. It's just why keep O as HC when he contributes so little to the game itself? He's an elite recruiting coordinator. I think that's his place.

Not in either camp, myself. I'm open to O, but my first preference was always Herman or Fisher. This game didn't really change my opinion much. If we hire Orgeron, he'd better get one hell of an OC.

So we're just conceding that we can't scheme against Alabama like Ole Miss and Arkansas can. We just have to hope we make field goals and hire more and more Arandas every time they leave for head coaching gigs. Got it.

I'm not going to concede that we have an inability to scheme offensively against Bama, but Bert and Freeze can. Not gonna happen.

Really? That Bama defense was giving up over 20 points per game in SEC play and gave up 40 and 30 points to Arkansas and Ole Miss. The revisionist history is cute but not helpful. LSU's coaching staff has no clue how to handle Bama and hasn't for years. It's time for new blood from the top down. Keep Aranda and go all in on an elite offensive minded head coach and those "all world" defensive performances from Bama will suddenly disappear.

Only on one side of the football. Sure it was a close game, but that doesn't mean that LSU played Bama better than everyone else.

You can keep quoting this all you want, but let's face facts this LSU team is LOADED with talent and our defense gave us several opportunities to score. The offensive scheme assembled y Ensminger and O was terrible. We had less yards in this game than the 2002 one fyi. I mean Western Kentucky and Kent State some how outperformed LSU on the offensive side of the ball.

To be fair, I'm not saying it's the L that matters I'm saying we are starved on offensive game planning and some people want to hire a guy who put up the worst offensive showing since BCSCG.

You can make all the excuses or comparisons you want but Saturday night did show us what will happen when O goes up against an elite HC. Without Dave Aranda this game would have been much much uglier. Aranda hung with Saban, but our offense did not. Aranda made O and Ensmingers shortcoming seem not as bad.

1)That bama team wasn't a defending n.c. team with 22 straight wins either.

2)So bama had their worst offensive showing this year against lsu. I mean, Jacksonville state and souther miss, miss state, etc put up as many or more points than bama. I guess they should fire Kiffin, yet, you have people wanting him as lsu head coach. these types of arguments are silly.

3) S.E. isn't O's choice for O.c., I don't know if you notice, les was fired and O has to work with what is currently on staff.

4) This isn't to say O has to be h.c., the silly arguments being made against him for Saturday's performance are exactly that, silly. You can say the same thing for saban and Jimbo in 2002. it's facts man.

He either gets credit for both wins and losses or the coordinators do. You can't give O credit for the improved offensive display but blame Ensminger for the Bama game.

We will agree to disagree i guess. I don't feel there is a legitamite comparison here. It would have likely been worse than 31-0 nothing if not for Aranda. We had so many short fields to score on and couldn't manage more than a first down (if that). That's just bad offensive play calling and execution plain and simple.

Actually Kent State but they really do not count.

But I like O and think LSU did a great job with the game plan. That game could have gone either way easily.

What worries me is keeping your staff intact and pulling someone like Sark over there to be an OC.
