But, now it's done.

Nah.

They could scapegoat Alleva and keep Miles. In fact, I'm starting to think this is just some stupid power-play between Miles and Alleva.

I thought it was pretty obvious from the start that this was a power play by Alleva

Guess it blew up in his face.

As long as this has been going on, LSU would be a laughing stock if Les comes back. Other coaches would look at this and say I don't want to be there. They don't know what the he'll they are doing. You have to make a change now.

I'm as big a Miles supporter as there is, outside of his own family and it would be a disaster to keep him now.

Nobody would win except our SEC-W opponents. I'm being serious.

(But if the choice is keeping 1, I'd prefer Miles over Alleva.)

They only card LSU could pull would be to fire Alleva and make it seem like he wanted Les gone, not LSU. They are at the point of no return now.

From what I'm hearing this has all been smoke screens and throwing out feelers to see where the fan base and boosters stood. After all this is a huge business. Lsu couldn't get Jimbo lined up do now they have caught so much negative national media attention it's time to find a scapegoat for making miles look bad and patch it for a year.

Meh... Miles isn't going to coach forever.

At worst, it sets the program back 2 years. At best, he hires someone who can implement a modern passing system and LSU actually improves on field.

I'd still puts Miles' odds at 25% to return, maybe less, but I don't this is as much of a disaster as people think it is.

Maybe - but it's costly, either way. Costly in recruiting trail reputation. Since I believe Les, on his own, was going to retire after the 2018 or 2019 season - this mess will be fresh enough to impact such a replacement search in the unlikely event Les survives this.

But, Alleva is an easy fix - there are hundreds of guys who can be AD. There aren't hundreds of guys who can HC a program in the SEC to an 80% win record, championships. There aren't dozens - there are maybe 20 guys out there at any 1 time with the right balance of snake oil salesman, drill sergeant, motivator, etc. to do such a thing - and not all of them are keen on leaving the job they have to come here.

This universe is small and unforgiving. If the Fisher thing was, as I suspected all along, a ploy by Sexton to get more money (or just more years) for his client at FSU, then Alleva should go for falling for it and not doing adequate damage control before it made letting Les go an unfortunate and expensive necessity.

I'd laugh with you, baw, but this is my school, my athletic department and my football coach. It hurts too badly to laugh.

Jimmy Sexton wasn't going to let an opportunity like this slide. Jimbo was never coming here.
