Here’s how you pitch the job to Lincoln Riley

Woodward always adds a personal aspect to every hire he makes. I think Scott is going to make a very strong push to hire Lincoln Riley by pitching the idea of making his brother, Garrett Riley, OC. He’s currently the OC at SMU and is doing very, very well. Lincoln was also an AAC OC at one point with ECU.
From a football standpoint, Woodward will certainly make the case that compared to LSU, OU has less recruiting prowess, slightly less resources and has a Power 5 school in their same state they have to compete for recruiting.
Lincoln has done great at OU but, it’s been at a conference that has teams including: Kansas, Kansas St, Iowa state, Texas Tech etc etc.
OU is not going to sustain the same success in the SEC. They may slide into mediocrity (ala Nebraska/Miami/FSU) regardless of their coach. Lincoln Riley will not have the same advantages week-in and week-out when playing an SEC West schedule. He certainly won’t have the recruiting power/advantage they have against schools like West Virginia or okie state.
He could have a humongous leg up if he made the move at 38 to LSU. Huge recruiting advantage. Top-3 resources in the nation. And, have an opportunity to add a really solid OC to his staff.. his own brother. The money, support and infrastructure is in place for Lincoln Riley to become the next CFB coaching giant. Will that land Riley? Maybe. Maybe not. But I feel like a very detailed pitch is going to be presented by Woodward that includes these talking points.

Intriguing take, Lincoln is without a doubt the white whale

why not just show him a pic of Les Miles and say look at his record at LSU

do whatever you can to even get an interview with Lincoln Riley, but Bill Bedenbaugh is an extremely important part of that operation.

Absolutely but, it’s up to Riley who he’d want to fill his staff. Bill B is currently in a co-OC role. Garrett Riley and Bill B could work wonders with LSU’s talent

Never...
Ever...
Gonna happen...
LSU doesn't attract those kind of coaches. Never has, never will.

Hey Lincoln, would you like to play Saban twice a year, live in the Detroit of the south, and deal with the most miserable fan base in the country?
Great pitch

This shite is so overblown. It's 2021. The top dogs are recruiting nationally.
Alabama, Clemson, and Georgia all have power 5 schools in their state as well, and they are consistently in the top 5 in recruiting. Ohio State has 4 or 5 Power 5 schools within 200 miles and they are consistently in the top 5 as well.
There isnt nearly the sense of state pride with high school recruits as there used to be, and NIL is going to open up more doors for kids to go out of state. 90% of the time when you see a kid stay in-state it has something to do with their family/friends being able to come watch them play. With NIL, it will be nothing for schools to make sure that a top prospects family/friends can travel for 6 or 7 homes games per year.

As the OU coach how many time will he play Saban every year based on the pod system?

You know how I know you've never been to Detroit...
Additionally, the words "I wish to live in Norman, OK" were said by nobody ever.

You obviously don't keep up with the fanbases of other major football schools. Why don't you run down to Knoxville and let me know how that fan base is behaving.

All valid points but you don't mention their current employer. You just don't. Can you illustrate those things? Absolutely. But, you illustrate them from your own advantages and not by pointing out the disadvantages OU will have.

BINGO! Ya don't think coaches wives talk? They do. Sabans wife says it all
"Nick, this isn't Baton Rouge"
End of story.

After the Texas A&M game, there were people in Alabama griping about Saban making AFLAC commercials. Never mind the six championships and the dynasty he's built there.

Lincoln could hire his brother right now if he wanted. What makes you think LSU has more resources than OU? OU already brings in more money and that is before being in the SEC.

He should change his first name to Baton

The problem with all of this is this is the wild year where he gunna frick around and actually win a National championship

I like UGA’s chances better.

It should be as simple as:
"Hey, Lincoln, it's been 21 years since anyone actually won a championship at OU. Whereas, the last 3 coaches at LSU each won a championship and the last two coaches were tards."
