Great post OP. There really are alot of positives for keeping O and retaining this unbelievable staff. The good news is, it really does seem Jimbo wants the gig too. So, we have a good problem on our hands. That said, the combo of O, Aranda and Kiffin...is dannnnngerrrrousssss!! Anyone thinking otherwise needs to get their heads out of the sand.

Fleck is not an X's and O's guy. He is the same as O, a recruiter and motivator.

What makes you say this?

I'd prefer taking a shot at Aranda for HC than O honestly. Heck maybe even Frank Wilson, he's "one of us" but with a .500 record at least. And nobody doubts his recruiting ability.

but you say coordinators leave every two years
Ummmmm, in the Coach O scenario that everyone is touting they would. Kirby smart was not the best DC when hired, he was a young coach that saban promoted to DC.

In the coach O stupid arse scenario, everyone keeps saying just go throw money at the already known best Offensive and Defensive coordinators out there. When you do that, those guys are likely on the path to be Head Coaches in the near future. In your scenario, we would have been throwing money at a Kirby Smart for DC two years ago.

Make sense?

Its been very well documented here and on the TOS (especially) that Jimbo wants this job. Secondly, I'd be fine with having the top coordinators in the country for 2-3 years...kick some arse, then we will go and do what we always do, go and hire the next best coordinators out there. Coaches are lining up to coach here....

I honestly believe it was a done deal of Jimbo to LSU last November, but nothing that I have seen this year has alluded me to believing Jimbo has a high chance of coming here.

ETA: I did not see Random's post about info from his money guy. FWIW my list is 1. Herman 2. Jimbo 3. O

Chavis (tenn and lsu), Smart(bama), Venables (Oklahoma and Clemson), bud foster (v tech), Strong (south Carolina and florida) Just to name a few guys that stayed at their respective coaching gigs longer than two years. It's just a dumb statement. Make excuses all you want, it's rare for coordinators to stay a max of two years.

Besides, lets give you the benefit of the doubt. Ogeron has coached a long time, he's coached at some of the best programs in the country and with some of the best coaches in the country. You think, with the resources and money lsu has, he doesn't have the contacts and resources to find quality replacements?

Again, I'm not pimping him. However, to melt over him is just Ludacris.

but one who has proven that he can successfully do it from year to year and can actually build a program (which he may have to do later on if O gets this job) and not just take over someone else's team that has gotten stale and breathe a little life into them in ONE season

He has built a MAC powerhouse. Open your eyes, the guy is in Western Michigan. Is he going to bring his OC or his entire staff from WMU? Give it up, the dude isn't ready to be a top tier power 5 coach. Could you imagine him wearing cleats to practice at LSU?

a big part of me wants Orgeron to get the job just to spite you idiots who insist some new guy is LSUs one and only savior every single year.

The only positive from the hire of Coach O is Alleva will be out of a job soon.

The only idiots are the ones who think a career DL line coach (because they refuse to acknowledge his disastrous 3 years as a head coach) is the answer because he a cajun from Louisiana and he has won a few games against shite competition.

You think he gets the job if he loses 3 out of the next 4? You think CEO supporters would want CEO if he loses 3/4? O has said himself he doesn't expect the job if he doesn't produce.

No i don't, but there are a lot of people on this site (if you aren't one, then i am obviously not talking to you) that are just ready to give him the job now or if he only loses 2 games, those are the ones i am talking about. If O wins out then you have to give him the job. I still wouldn't like it, but i would understand it.

Everyone knew those defenses were Sabans. And as you can tell with UGA, schools made the right decision in not hiring him.

i defy you to show me even one post here that "refuses to acknowledge" that Orgereon was the HC at Ole Miss.

if you people had such a strong case against Orgereon you wouldn't need to be so dramatic and make things up.

i could give a frick. its a interesting sidenote and nothing more.

no one is doing that. by all accounts he needs to do the near impossible and beat bama, or AT THE VERY LEAST, take a 2-2 team and then run a brutal gauntlet with 3 top 10 teams in 19 days and finish out 6-1.
