Sadly it appears to be the latter.

1. the good part of our staff will stay on.
2. the bad pieces are going to be fired, mainly BDP.
3. Our practices look much better now.
4. we are going to lock down this state with O in charge.

I still think Jimbo/Herman if we can, but once its second tier O is at the top. Im certainly not going to melt over O because of 10 years ago at a runt program. I am willing to give the wait and see based off of him pushing every correct button so far.

You have to stop reacting to the Rantards but at the same time you have to be honest that CEO is a viable candidate. Another thing, why do people think CEO would run the program into the ground, say he doesn't win a national championship if he got the job permanently, do you honestly believe he'd let the recruiting decline? Whoever that would take the job after him would still have the same LSU talent we have grown accustomed to.

well i never drink so it would have to be the latter.

he has been a HC since then, twice now, and hes improved.

i cant believe i even have to say this but no matter what you do in life, failure is usually the catalyst to success, you learn from your mistakes and you get better. by all accounts Orgeron failed on the field at Ole Miss, but his time at USC and now here shows hes learned from that and gotten better. hes very different now then he was before.

People are insane if they think O would run it in the ground. They are going off of 10 years ago in his first job and off how badly they want another person.

O will have us stocked with talent. yes, we have to hire great oc and dc but we are LSU and we have money for hires.

FWIW we will never get the full insight officially on this search, some version will become the legend. People will melt if we hire O full time especially before the end of the season.

However, as always people will slowly filter into the O camp if he gets the job. They will see the positives and the press conferences where he says all the right things.

its kind of funny because the miles people use to hate the word process and the anti miles people pressed on why these ugly victories and doing things a certain way were a problem. Now some of those same people are dismissing the process that O is using, which is a proven winner process as noted by Da U and USC.

No, he has been an INTERIM Head Coach...he is a substitute teacher. There is a reason in over 30 years of being a coach he has only been hired as a head coach once (and was a miserable failure) and he has never been more than a DL coach at any other time. He has never even been trusted to be a DC and that's who y'all want to possibly hand the keys over to, its baffling. This isn't the same LSU program from the 90's, we don't have to make that kind of hire anymore.

I believe he would be better, but you don't go from one of the worst in SEC history to elite or even very good. Not in 10 years not in 100 years.

you can when you end up at an elite place vs a runt. Its insanity to take a little 6 job in the sec, especially perianal loser ole miss. Its even worse to do that for your first job.

It would be ideal for O to go to another spot and prove that he can be head coach, but it doesn't always workout as ideal. we have an opening now and its highly likely just by nature that we don't get tier 1. Jimbo ship likely sailed with the shite show last year. How can he trust this admin especially F. King to support him when he botched it last year?

Herman likely to UT and who can blame him.

So we are the number 2 job on the market but only two realistic shots at tier 1. one blown by king being a fricking retard last year and the other to the only job that is better than what we offer.

there are plenty of coaches out there more deserving of an opportunity than O. I'm bearish on Fedora but he's actually won 11 or more games in a season at 2 different places.

except those other options don't have the chance to coach 8 games or so at LSU.

The people saying O is one of us hiring him are stupid as frick. However, we do know the fit of the region is good for O. He knows the coaches in this area so we know he can recruit this.

I know you love PJ but what connections does he have here? how is he going to lock down this state? If you want to talk about the 90s coming back then losing instate kids is how that shite happens.

Im still a pretty hard no on Larry F until he adjust to a real d. we will never win anything of substance playing like ole miss. he has said he isn't gong to slow his o down to help his D. There would be fricking riots if our D gives up 42 a game or some shite like that.

Being an interim coach is not the same thing as being a full time head coach.

Great recruiters are great recruiters everywhere. What "ties" did O have at Miami or USC? None and he recruited like gangbusters in all of those places too.

Well he is an amazing recruiter but this really is not about Fleck, we can throw him out because even without him O doesn't crack my top 10. but again" ties" to the area is an awful justification. What ties did Les or Nick have before coming here? What ties did Urban have to Florida? None had ever coached in the SEC.

Fleck - WR coach to HC
Harbaugh - QB coach to HC
Urban - WR coach to HC
Dabo - WR coach to HC

these guys were never coordinators either.

the difference here with the first 3 is that they took on small jobs as a HC first, they didnt start in the SECW. if anything that was Orgerons biggest mistake.

Dabo took over as interim at Clemson in 2008, a team that started the season at #6 but then went 3-3 when Tommy Bowden resigned. the team had talent and Dabo showed he knew how to use it better, but still only went 4-3 that year.

Ties to the area can matter. did anyone on the rant think that Trent Johnson was a bad hire for LSU basketball? no, he was a coach of the year in two different conferences. He then ventures into the sec and it is a disaster.

yes, O is the interm but do you disagree with any move he has made as a long term good move? His new practice routine isn't something that is just going to go away because he gets the head job. The brining in old players to hold the young guys accountable isn't something that he is going to just stop doing. Those things have both been used at other programs long term to produce excellent responses.

The biggest worry on O is can he hire/fire people at a good rate. I don't have any issue with us being a pipe line to put great coaches as head coach and to the NFL. You just have to make good hires and make the firing when you need.

yep O messed up jumping into the sec west. He would have been better off taking a small school job in cali or florida. Then working his way up.

but you know what they were? Successful head coaches before they got the big gig.

Ok, so you using the argument that he started in the SECW as his first job and that was a mistake and he was a miserable failure, you think its a good idea for his second head job to also be in the SECW??

he has had 10 years to rectify that mistake and show he can make it as a head coach somewhere smaller, why hasn't he? Is it because no one else wants him as a HC?

or maybe he didn't put in for any head coaching jobs. a second failure puts him at position coach for life at that point so you need the right opportunity.

Either way if we hire O for a good few months everyone will switch to being all O. then after the first loss next year some will be like i was always against him.
