Exactly. He’ll probably buy a home in NewPort Beach and fly his helicopter in like Kobe did.

I always like threads like these where people who live in Louisiana call other states shitholes. California ranks better than Louisiana in every single measurable category. If you are making USC HC money, California is an amazing place to live.

f he’s not gonna come to LSU then why would he leave for a place like USC. That literally makes no sense. No fan support, nobody cares out there, and they haven’t had a coach succeed in 20 years. He will regret this

It makes perfect sense. USC's road to the playoffs is much easier in the PAC12 than it will be for OU in the SEC. That simple, nothing more, nothing less.

OU is not going to out recruit SEC teams enough to win at the level OU fans want to win once they are in the SEC and they (OU) are not going to make the CFP as frequently as they did in the Big12.

2 recruiting classes at USC, and they will be back in the hunt.

You’re crazy. Cali is loaded with talent. Recruiting for him will be a breeze. Smart move on his part.

When you have Helton, a drunk Sark, and a not yet ready Kiffin as the head coach in that time period, you tend to lose hope.

USC is finally trying to do something about that and fans will come back.

Because he's scared of the SEC? He's gotten his arse kicked by every top team his played while at Oklahoma. He continued beating up on the big 12 and getting run off the field teams that were actually good in the playoffs. Didn't he make the playoffs for 4 out of the last 5 years as either Oklahoma OC or head coach and lose in the first round each time? His first bowl win came in an NY6 bowl last year against a Florida team that had lost all of its confidence before they even played. Lincoln Riley hasn't done shite and knew he couldn't handle the SEC.

Looks like he's pretty scared of the SEC grinder that was staring him in the face at Okl or LSU and chose a soft spot to coach from.....skeered....

Maybe he doesn’t want anything to do with the SEC

Are you serious.

1) If you make several million a year, LA is a touch bit more desirable then Baton Rouge
2) You will still own one of the best recruiting states
3) Much easier pathway to playoffs every year
4) You can live Cali lifestyle and keep an anonymous life - whereas in BR you would be in a constant pressure cooker.

It is pretty easy to see why someone would make this choice - it easily makes sense. Not saying I like it or I would do it, but this is not a brain-buster

I said the same thing, Riley is 38, he can have USC back to Pete Carroll level in terms of talent with 2 recruiting classes. Easy path to CFP in fact, similar to what he had at OU in the Big12. He was not going to get to the CFP at the same frequency in the SEC as he did at OU in the Big12. At USC, with their Brand name and national recognition, recruiting base in metro LA, and PAC12 conference, he has the same set up at USC that he had at OU in the Big12.
