Why go through the Title 9 BS with Franklin and not Freeze? Again, Freeze beats Saban with Ole Miss talent. Franklin isn't in the same conversation as X's and O's go as Freeze.

The man was 2-3 and they were 2 pretty wild games

If he stayed at Ole Miss that record would have only gotten worse.

Gus Malzahn is 3-5

Would we hire him?

To be fair, and I am NOT on the Freeze wagon- look at that dude’s record. He has been very successful every stop and right away

I wish that he wasn’t but feel like he is.

I think he is a great coach, and a better hire than say Jimbo. I imagine him being a coach that always has us around 10 wins, respectable but not dominant. He has yet to get Penn State over the hump and have no reason to believe things would be different here.

He just seems like such a safe hire, just not a ton of room between upside and downside.

What this admin needs to understand is that despite the outcome, they lost confidence with the O hire that was already eroded during Miles last couple of years. You have to show them you will do whatever it takes to get the absolute best guy out there and that we think of ourselves as a top 3 program in the country. If you don’t do this, your revenue will suffer.

I really think you throw $9-10M at Joe Brady to accomplish that. He isn’t necessarily my top choice but I don’t think anyone else is capable of bringing that level of excitement to our team.

“Broke the news?”

That’s like a poster posting a random thought first and getting credit when it happened.

Ron Higgins the editor from Tiger Rag who was first to break the news on Mulkey to LSU says that James Franklin is the no 1 candidate on LSU’s list and that Lane Kiffen is among the mix at the top

I bet he can spell Kiffin correctly.

I'm not seeing the reason why anyone would be interested in Franklin. There is nothing to get excited about. Penn State is known for 2 and BBQ.

All of this

I'm not necessarily a cheerleader for the guy but this notion that he's not a great coach is starting to get absolutely ridiculous. The knock on his coaching ability is that he's lost a game or 2 that he wasn't supposed to. Ok so which candidate hasn't? Franklin did at Vandy what no one has ever accomplished. At least not in my 40 years. 2/3 years there he finished ranked. 2 9 win seasons. A 5-3 season in the sec. And not during a down SEC east either. He competed with vandy when UGA, Florida, AND South Carolina were all in the top 10. At Penn State he has 3 11 win seasons and is probably on his way to his 4th. Since he has been there only 2 schools not named Ohio State have won a big ten championship. Penn st and Mich st. And they along with Michigan and Ohio state are all in the same division. Sound familiar with a problem we have? So he's a young coach that has proven he can recruit and win in the top 2 conferences in the country, he has gone up against elite programs and has kept a sustained level of success. And I know it doesn't mean shite to most people but it does to our president - he fulfills the diversity requirement. And trust me if thats a requirement you better pray that Franklin is the guy.

Competed sure but he still lost. And the year he beat Florida and UGA both those teams were decimated.

I think his performance at Penn State should be used to judge his coaching abilities, not Vanderbilt

Once the confrontation happened over the Baylor arena location, Mulkey was gone and easy picking especially throwing $$$$ out there too

There were a lot of LSU fans at the UCLA game wanting Freeze. That noise has since died down, not sure why?

Kiffin didn't exactly put out the fire with respect to him being hired here when asked about it today, he said "You don't worry about things you can't control" and "We'll just work through it" pertaining to he and the Ole Miss team, I was surprised he didn't having stronger response, something more along the lines of what Jimbo said

I don’t know, maybe I suppose that Kiffin also likes $$$. Don’t deny it and get paid. Jimbo is already topped out and can’t pull that Ace from his sleeve again.

With Woodward running the search, I expect to hear every name except the guy he’s going after. Go ahead and cross franklin and kiffin off your list....

Woodward made it clear to the media that he was “swinging for the fences” he had better not fail with statement like that.

He finished above 500, ranked, and with bowl wins his last 2 out of 3 years there. Is your level of success at Vanderbilt reaching Atlanta and being in a BCS bowl? Because you will never find a coach to do that. You don't have to want Franklin as our coach but your really show your stubbornness in wanting to shite on him by pretending his job at Vanderbilt wasn't impressive.
