Ahhhhh the dreaded vote of confidence.

Auburn also doesn't have the money they need to get rid of him.

Why is this even being discussed? Auburn's only losses this year were @ #1 LSU, @ #10 UF, and a close loss to #4 UGA. They are still the only team to beat #6 Oregon and have a legit shot at a pretty high level bowl game. That is not a hotseat type season at Auburn. Gus is a solid coach. How many SEC coaches would you trade him for? Saban, O, Smart, Mullen? Thats about it.

Because every year Auburn can't decide if they want to give him a $50M buyout or can him immediately.

Tony Barnhart did an interview this morning. He said people in the Auburn AD laughed when asked if Gus was safe.
Said one unnamed person said “So we’ve been a top ten team all year, all of our losses have been very close to top teams, we’ve been playing with a freshman qb, but suddenly Gus can’t coach worth a lick? That’s laughable. We have a championship coach.”
Gus isn’t going anywhere.
But that’s not really a surprise.

Because his record against those teams, and Bama, is absolutely horrible. He's living off beating mediocre, and horrible, teams.

Gus is the new Les Miles. He's got an 8 win floor, but maybe a 9-10 win ceiling. Fans aren't happy with the offense, and they aren't satisfied with wins but not being part of the conference/national championship picture. That Ole Miss game they had post LSU where the stadium was 3/4 filled, and emptied while it was a 1 score game in the 3rd/4th quarter seemed really familiar to me. I saw a lot of that from 2012-2016

Auburn doesn't have the 26 million dollars to spare. Getting rid of Malzahn with the buyout so massive would break their bank. Hence, for the foreseeable future, Auburn is going to be stuck with Malzahn and his mediocre coaching job. It's called reaping what you have sown. Oh well.

Jimmy Rane could stroke that check in a heartbeat.

What are they supposed to say?
Gus is Auburn's very own Mark Richt

Yeah, but is he stupid enough to do it?

Except that 9 & 3 is his ceiling.

He's actually a Gus backer, from all accounts. But to say they don't have the cash is either uninformed or plain fricking stupid.

I’m still confused why others are confused as to why he should get another year to prove he is moving forward with a true freshman QB. Dude is going no where.

Alabama went 14-1 with a true freshman QB in 2016, and Aubie thinks they are on the same level as Alabama. Duh.

Weird because I saw him go 12-2 once

Les Miles averaged 10 wins at LSU

Good. Gus is doing a great job. He shouldn’t be fired for failing to beat Orgeron and Saban. He’s got the two best coaches in America in his own division for goodness sake!
