Kunka, sorry you cant keep up. I admitted I was wrong, you learn something everyday; including how ignorant new posters are.

quote:This is only Gus's second year at AU. He came in with Chizik in December 2008.
he goes to AU and tries a half spread/ace, half spread option offense for 2 years that is good, but not great. gets cam, goes full spread option, and his offense takes off against real competition
Gus takes his offense and tailors it to fit the athletes he had. When he was at Tulsa he had them at the top of offensive production in the nation. Last year at AU he took a team that was 104th in total offense in 2008 and brought them up to 16th with virtually the same players.

But the one thing that Vandy has plenty of is money.
This . They are BY FAR the wealthiest school in the SEC. Also, since their athletic department is not separate they can spend whatever they want on coaches salaries, etc. A lot of people don't realize this.

Nutt, unfortunately, made 3 million this year. I'm not sure where you're getting your info. He made 2.5 million three years ago.

Hmmm... Got it from a USAToday article.
Plus, this Clarion Ledger article mentions he'll make $2.7 M next year.
quote:
Boone said that Nutt’s contract, which previously expired at the end of the 2013 season, will automatically extend to 2014 due to a handshake agreement for a seven-year deal that was made when Nutt took the Ole Miss job after the 2007 season. Contracts with state employees in Mississippi can only last four years, thus the arrangement. Nutt will receive an automatic 5 percent raise as dictated by the contract to approximately $2.7 million, Boone said.

I'd take it. You've got 7 years to develop your system w/ virtually no expectations. After that, you can move on to an elite program and compete for a championship.
Not to mention UGA, tenn, Florida and Kentucky are all shitty the same year since probably forever. I'd jump at that opportunity.

Ok, thanks . That's good news. I know when it was originally negotiated he was going to be paid 2.5 with it being bumped up to 3 million by the third year. I don't guess that was finally decided on.

I would love to see Malzahn at Vandy. If the OP is correct then a 3 million per/ 7 year contract is a sweet deal. It's a long term investment for Vandy but they need someone with the vision and creativity of a Malzahn. I think he could recruit better if a long term contract is worked out. I wouldn't want him to jump ship on me either. Seems he has been moving quite a bit since coming up to the college level.

i also believe he's the real "head coach" at AU. when i see malzhan and chizik on the sidelines, gus is telling gene what to do
I wanted to start a thread yesterday asking if Auburn fans will still see Chizik as this great coach next season when Cam and Gus are gone and they finish 5th in the West
