Greg Schiano to Bucs?

I know some folks think he's a flash in the pan, but I really like him as a college coach. He's achieved and maintained success at Rutgers and would be an excellent choice for any major NCAA program.
In the pros? I just don't see it.

No one knows how this will turn out. Might not be as bad a ppl think.
Rutgers went 12-34 in its 1st 4 yrs under Schiano, with no bowl games, and 56-33 in his last 7, with 6 winning seasons and went 5-1 in bowls

I'm starting to wonder if the Bucs did contact Miles.
Kelly, Schiano - what would make them want college coaches of that caliber.

As a rutgers fan, this makes me smile. I do think he has the skill set to be a good nfl head coach though.

The Jacksonville Jags took a chance and hired Tom Coughlin from Boston College (21-13-1 in three seasons). While Coughlin had an offensive background, that hire turned out pretty well.
And I believe this will as well.

I do agree with this. Chip would have been a flat out disaster. Schiano has a chance for some success in the NFL.

By all accounts, in my mind, Schiano seems like a really good coach to me. Rutgers is in good recruiting ground but don't have any facilities to speak of and he won pretty consistently at Piscataway. I didn't closely chronicle GS and his coaching career, so specifically why is he not a good hire for the Bucs like I'm hearing people say?

Schiano is a terrible game coach and a serious micro manager. He'll need a good staff to be successful. Also, rutgers has facilities on par with most college programs.

I was on the road yesterday si I heard Sports Talk all over New Jersey. I was amazed that most people were pissed that it happened just before National Signing Day. I didn't think New Jersey cared that much much or knew that much. No one is blaming him for going. But, now the truth will come out. He was paid like a top flight Div 1 coach and never won the confernce title.
