College football programs always try to follow the latest trends. I think Auburn is looking at the fact LSU and USC paid a ransom to poach playoff coaches from other powers which has produced immediate results. That is where they will at least start the search. So the question is who fits that mold?

Are Clemson and Dabo growing apart a bit now that Clemson has had a few years short of championship status? Could this be the opportunity to poach him from a seemingly great job? Would an Alabama guy ever consider the thought of coaching Auburn? It seems unrealistic to think Dabo would leave Clemson for Auburn...but so did Kelly leaving ND for LSU and Riley leaving OU for USC. Sometimes the timing is just right.

Does Urban Meyer want to coach again? Does Auburn even want him? Often timing is everything. Saban is not the HC at Alabama if Shula's flameout doesn't coincide with Saban confirming after year 2 the NFL wasn't for him. Meyer doesn't become the OSU coach if the forced firing of Tressell doesn't coincide with Meyer wanting to get back into coaching.

Kiffin seems like the most logical target. Rhule is potentially the "easiest" hire since you won't have to poach him from anywhere. Freeze would bring along controversy...but you can't argue with his success.

Lmao was thinking the same. It really could be anybody since it’s guaranteed to be a low ball offer if cohen is involved.

6 figures?

Not since the early days of Tuberville has an HC made 6 figures at Auburn.

Meant to say 9.

It is 100% Kiffin. At this point, we will have to pay it. We can't expect cheap and win.

I am not at all convinced that Kiffin is a program builder that can win big

he is one heck of a OC play caller

but Ole Miss has done what so far? Let's see how they handle Alabama this weekend

Dude Kiffen is 8-1 AT OM .theers no way he can recruit
the players there that he could at AU. ALA will beat OM
sat because they have much more talented starters not because of coaching.LK would kill it at AU.

So, trade off from Ole Miss to Auburn and the results would be the same or worst.

For 9 figures? haha

You can count the coaches that might warrant that on your hands.

The only person I can even think of that might be available is Urban.

I have heard that it wasn't a low ball offer, it just wasn't enough years in the deal.

Auburn offered 7 years/77 million so 11 million per year, all guaranteed.

Kiffen is looking for a 10 year deal. So probably 10 years/ 100-110 million all guaranteed.

Well we went 6-6, 5-7, 4-8 under Luke to 5-5, 10-3, 8-2 under Kiffin.

But what has he done.

Fwiw I had heard the same number from inside OM last last Monday and that he wanted the Jimbo deal.

I’ve also heard a second offer is on the table. If he rejects y’all are going Freeze and telling Sankey to frick off.

I honestly like Freeze more than Lane. No offense to OM, but he is a better coach and we can get him at half the cost. Lane would be a safer bet though. Less risk on a personal level. Lane seems like he wants another shot at the NFL so he is probably gone in a few years regardless where he is at.

So it's rumor.

That is a silly contract and not even sure if Lane is worth that
