Despite what some SLI/USL/ULL folks on here want you to believe, the hate coming out of Lafayette, is a very vocal minority, but it’s not limited to strictly a hatred of all things LSU, it’s a hatred of all things Baton Rouge as well.
As for their wanting to be called “The University of Louisiana”, it actually goes back to the the early 1980’s when a certain USL Alum who then served in the state senate introduced legislation to officially change to the one that the continue to covet, The University of Louisiana.
While the legend over in Lafayette is that the mean old LSU alums killed the bill, I can tell you, because I was there, that it was killed in the Senate Education Committee by a contingent of folks on behalf of other non-LSU state schools, led by La Tech & UNO in particular, because of the fear that the name change could lead to favored financial treatment TJ the Lafayette school if it were allowed.
As far as the hate of LSU, having spent about 5 years in Lafayette, I can say that there are a group of folks that would cheer for BAMA, the Taliban, or Satan himself of any were playing LSU. There is a similar minded group at La. Tech. In both instances, they constantly claim the ULL/LaTech is the instate rival of LSU and that they compete for n recruiting for the same players.
Is it short man’s syndrome? I neither know, nor care, but it’s real.
A close friend and native of Lafayette who is a 3rd generation LSU alum, has the best response to these folks. He had a separate set of his business card printed up that, on the front are normal, but on the reverse lists the total number of USL losses to LSU without a victory, the average score of each team, greatest margin of victory and a few other undeniable truths. He keeps them handy whenever one of the aforementioned ULL folks becomes annoying…

LSU&A&MC
Is this supposed to be some sort of diss?
Like if somebody used the abbreviation A.M.C. (Agricultural and Mechanical College of Texas) instead of saying Texas A&M or TAMU I'm supposed to be mad?

The upside to Napier at UF is a rent a win for LSU every year.

Who’s Angry? Just busy representing our state with one tenth your athletic budget. Thanks for helping us jump Texas A&M in the rankings!

The less attention you guys give to ULL, the better.

“Lobbied himself”
He went on BR radio, a YouTube show and a podcast to leverage the LSU&A&MC job against UF for money and control. And he got it. He was also on in Dallas. I guess he was desperate for the job too. ????
LSU&A&MC fans mad that they got played. Again. lolololol ??
This is such little dick energy

I blame the want to be seen and feel important Lafayette/Acadiana crowd. They turned out at Cajun Field for Hudspeth in record numbers because he was popular around town and smooshed all the people (in multiple ways).
Napier showed up and just wanted to do his job. He did it very well, and with class and humility. Lafayette folks who always claim “if they just start winning, I’ll attend” didn’t show up.
Those socialite types who kissed Hud and his wife’s asses but wouldn’t attend games for what Napier built make me want to puke.
That about sums of Lafayette as best as I've ever seen...at least the fart smelling population.

What does it feel like to ride the big SEC school bandwagon only to see that little school down the road with a tenth of the budget have more success?
The funny part is you're making this argument as some sort of smack talk but during Napier's tenure we had 2019 and you haven't won a conference title.

Why are UL fans in here talking shite like they’re some up and coming, historically rich football school? Or am I missing the point here? They’ve been winning for 3, 4 years?
Historically, McNeese has a more successful football program than ULL. ULL just happens to be on a high at the moment.

They wanted nothing more that’s to talk shite about us needing their coach to win.
