Those downplaying what Napier accomplished at ULL are completely ignorant. On the flip side, those acting like he is some can't miss coach are also pretty foolish.

There is some risk involved hiring him. At the end of the day, I'm very glad LSU took the route they did. Even if Napier does great at Florida, I can stand behind our hire of Kelly.

You aren't allowed to have a nuanced opinion of Napier. Pick one, he sucks or he's the next Saban conqueror.

Sure, he's got a plan, but then again, so did Zook, Muschamp, McElwain, and Mullen.

Out of that group Mac had a plan, and was probably the closest to taking the next step, he just had too many other issues getting in the way. The others did not.

No, it isn't. He ran a successful program at UL, he's had 3 10-win seasons when that program had none. He's a good recruiter and connected in the SE. He's got the money to put things in place that he needs at UF to be successful and compete with UGA.

He will be successful at Florida. Everyone on this board knows that and fits into one of two categories: 1) the people that believe LSU didn't want him, so we don't care about him or the UF job or 2) the people that are emo about his hiring and either wanted to crap on LSU for not taking the risk on him or crap on him as a coach to feel better about the fact that our coross-divisional rival hired a good coach.

I fall in the former group. I could care less about the Florida job and I wish him the best aside from when they play LSU, but to honestly crap on a coach who reset the bar at his previous program and is sitting with a 12-1 ranked team is pretty silly. He's not the second-coming of Saban, but he isn't Curly Hallman either.

Mac had the exact same issue Napier will have

Boring offense and not suited to handle the fire he will be under at all times.

You're right, he has a plan and I would be encouraged if I were a UF fan.

Something that does distinguish him, however is that he has high level experience as an assistant. The biggest school Fuente ever worked for was TCU (?). Norvell was Arizona State. Napier having worked at places like Bama and Clemson, he's not unfamiliar with the expectations and requirements to be successful at this level.

he coached at clemson before clemson got good

not sure how much knowledge he could've gotten at bama being an analyst

You are such a goddamn dumbass trying to equate Billy Napier with Ed Orgeron.

Clemson was still a bigger program, and he was both an analyst and WR coach at Bama. He's been around programs with high expectations. There's really no comparison between his non-HC experience and guys like Fuente or Norvell.

That's what this sounds like.

When you analyze the heading on this post you quickly see its factually erroneous.
Florida cannot be above Napier’s pay-grade if Florida is paying him a salary to coach their football team.

I have no clue if Napier will be great or suck, but how did the previous two coaches UF hired with experience under Saban work out?

No.

Texas State calling itself Texas would be like LSU (Louisiana State) calling itself Louisiana.

You must not be well educated.
