Nothing struck fear in us more than hearing a well worn 2" leather belt with a double-prong buckle come through my father's belt loops in preparation for a whooping. The low "pop pop pop pop pop," and my father saying, "son, come in my office..." Damn.

But it was all out of love and teaching a lesson. And it worked, for the most part.

Knowing how much of psycho Sully is, I'm inclined to give kid the benefit of the doubt.

I'll bet his kid would be upset and want to report him for abuse if Sully kicked him out on his own for his 18th bday. Reporting your dad to the authorities for yelling at you is a good way to make that a reality too. Kid probably thinks his dad owes him everything.

If the kid didn't feel safe (4 different reports), DCF isn't just going to tell him to suck it up. If there were actual threats of harm, I'd rather they be proactive than wait and have something happen and afterwards "the signs were there, if only..."

what a joke. he can holler all he wants at a disrespectful, smartass teen most likeley an ungovernable juvenile. whip their asses also. these teens prolly didn't do as he asked and they most likely talked back and started the hollering.

i got hollered at and whipped.

fn kids are so soft now. he needs to boot that kid out the house. GTFo c ya. after he beats that arse.

Dad has rules. Mom doesn’t have rules. Teenager seeks path of least resistance.

Got it. You didn't quote me so that was dumb on my part. My mistake. And yes, I'm jealous you have JJ.

Although it's not a perfect system, there are some smart and caring people that work in child welfare in this state.

I'm grateful for that.

Maybe I'm in the minority, but I actually like Sully even more after this report and the run-in in the Coastal Carolina regional that pissed off Coach Shawwnticlier.

Sully representing Gen X....

Kevin O'Sullivan knows how to keep his teenage boy from getting beaten up by Detective Marty Hart in a jail cell.

My controversial take:

Making threats to harm your kids is not good parenting. Nor is screaming at them repeatedly and making them feel unsafe.

My wife works in child welfare in Florida (not DCF), I showed her the story, she says she's hardly ever heard of a case where a child was removed from the home simply because of verbal abuse, it would have to be extreme (ie legitimate threats of harm). And there are checks and balances before a kid can be removed. A caseworker has to file a petition and it has to go to a judge. If the judge doesn't see legal grounds to remove, the child will have to return home. So if they were going to remove him, it was bad and wasn't on a whim.

She also said whatever people think they know about cases like this, 9 times out of 10 the situation is soooo much worse than what you thought.

what if they make you feel unsafe?

you have never dealt with any wild teens or juvenile delinquents. that much is obvious sweetheart.

keep that soft pussy arse approach and keep being disrespected and shite on.

good luck.

this. Not even sure why it’s controversial but so many people seem to wear it like a badge of honor that their parents beat them too

Constantly yelling and threatening and cussing at your kids is not normal parenting

DCF was going to remove the kid from the home. They don't do that because the father was just "yelling".

They'll remove them if you refuse to affirm their gender. I'm sure they'll remove them for "verbal abuse" also.
