The Texas job isn't open yet.

He'll sign it Thursday or Friday.

This. He's gonna let Alabama stew a little, so they'll go bust that piggy bank open. And they will.

UT recruits LA every year. Doubt it will change with Saban.

I don't know what is going to happen, but I can tell you that anyone saying Saban isn't going anywhere and there is no chance, that's BS! There is a reason Alabama hasn't said a single word about this!!! Texas even came out and denied it, and said SOMETHING!!! Nothing but dead silence from Bama! Coincidence?? I think not!

The real question here does Saban continue to try to frick LSU in recruiting if he goes to Texas? We all know it was part of his strategy to just take Louisiana recruits and if they panned out, great if they didn't, who care...processed and weakens their biggest rival. Now I wonder if he'll recruit Texas and think in his head, "LSU is the one program that can beat us in NC so we'll continue to take their recruits!" They're good enough to start for Texas anyway. Either way, Saban to Texas is probably a bigger negative than him at Bama. I doubt he stops recruiting Louisiana with his ties and he'll make it that much harder to even step into our biggest OOS recruiting area.

I think he works hard on locking up Texas and burning the trails. Then he goes nationally. If that includes LA players then so be it. He will attack his rivals areas first for the same reason he attacks LA recruiting. He gets top talent while also effecting some of his biggest rivals. LA will still be a target for him.

Disagree. We don't play Texas every year, and UT has never been a big draw for Louisiana recruits. There's so much talent in TX that 1: there's no need to go out of state as much as Alabama does and 2: UT and A&M can't keep it all for themselves. Saban to Texas is a big plus for us.

And Saban does not get whoever he wants in LA as it is, despite what some would claim. This year was an outlier, and even so, he's not getting Fournette, Willis, Dupree, etc.

Probably because athletic departments don't feel the need to answer to message board rumors.

Well, Bama just upped him last year and he doesn't have a championship to lean on this year. Saban needs every bit of outside pressure he can get I guess to get Bama to open the checkbook again.

Saban recruits LA hard because he has connections here and there is awesome talent here. He wouldnt stop recruiting here just because he switched schools, but it may not be as necessary with TX's in state talent.

what's the hold up?

Last week they were reporting that an extension was a done deal. No updates.

If Nicks had the contract on his desk for 5 days, thats not helping the rumor mill, Pawl.

That's true--were he to bolt,(and maybe not immediately) the guy could pull some big recruits from here..The Texas brand speaks for itself.

I was told today that UT is willing to offer far more than what is probably on that contract that is sitting on Saban's desk. Alabama should kindly rip the contract up, pretend it didn't happen and start again...
