So that "arse whooping" had nothing to do with the D getting torched, starting with the first drive of the game?
Go back and look at FSU's 1st drive of Louisville game. Cant blame it all on Defense .

FSU took the lead in the 3rd quarter.
That stretch of play calling, as well as the play calling in the final 1:30 of the first half could have landed the lead earlier. Again, he opens up the offense when he trails.

Deondre Francois finished with 286 yards passing that game. That was even with six sacks. Dalvin Cook had 169 yards rushing and 4 TDs on 19 carries.
When's the last time LSU had that sort of balance? And this is an off season for Jimbo.

Oh, you're a Herman guy. I checked some of your past posts. No problem. I like Herman, too. But did you know he has a lower ranked offense than Fisher this year? I'm not saying any of this is reason to pick one or the other. But it is a fact. What do you attribute to Herman's short comings this year?

Predictable on 1st and 2nd down has been the prob.
I think his problem has been a very poor and inconsistent O-line. I have seen very few QBs take the beating his QB has taken. The head coach is ultimately responsible for everything, but if their O-line becomes decent, that QB is going to kill people because he can really throw it and he's tough as nails.

Question is, are we looking for a "better" coach, or the "best" coach. The answer to that question has to take into how a candidate is responding to quality competition now.
Dude, give us names that are better coaches right now?
that's fine to come in here and talk about Jimbo's first season with a true Frosh QB...and a young looking D
what do you people want?
No coach is perfect....but dang are you y'all going to nick pick everything?
Our QB have been crappy ever since Jimbo left LSU
I will stop my rant before I say too much
Lay off the sauce unless you have names that are better than Jimbo with proven track record

I'm not sure that Herman is the guy either. I like his offensive style, but I'm completely sold on his commitment to defense. I'm not a proponent of jumping on any bandwagon. No emotional decisions. I not overly critical of Jimbo nor Herman's losses, but interested in a modern college football offense.

I applaud your objective efforts and would only ask that that you state the extraordinary limits of your analysis more vigorously and explicitly. Your conclusions are to be applied very narrowly. Keep up the good work.

We should realize that Jimbo is very close to being 9-1 with a shite O line, a freshman QB, and a very inconsistent defense
Would've beaten clemson if not for one of the worst calls of the year by the refs
he has just as many loses as LSU does right now and this LSU team is one of the most stacked we've ever had. "but LSU doesn't have great qb play" THat's exactly why we're hiring Jimbo

1. Though he employs many “spread concepts”, pro style play calling keeps his team behind the chains and trailing in the 1st half of critical P-5 ball games. He trailed vs Ole Miss, blew out by Louisville, and stayed behind the chains vs Clemson. The predictable I formation and single back sets on 1st downs tend to be wasted downs.
2. By the Clemson game, FSU had 17 1st qtr possessions, and had failed to score a single TD in the 1st qtr VS power 5 opponents. That trend continued here.
3. Jimbo waits until he trails to open up the play book. You sense his tendency to stay true to his Nick Saban pedigree until he’s in trouble. This put his team in trouble in the first half of a very critical Clemson contest.
4. There are no RPO (Run pass options). QB is asked to make a lot of big boy throws vertically, much like Cameron. The best call of the 1st half was an underneath shallow cross, thrown for 3 yds that went for 22 yards. Jimbo tries to rely heavily on vertical pass concepts, and does not spread the field horizontally.
5. Does not make use of QB athleticism, despite the fact that Clemson’s Boyd and Louisville’s Jackson has given FSU trouble with their dual threat abilities. Bama has trended in this directions also.
6. Jimbo was in a empty formation 1x, 4 WR set about 4x (and not until the last two minutes of the half.
7. Jimbo’s version of the spread is not a true spread. Its primarily 3 WR set, with a tight end or HB, similar to LSU’s current system.
8. His team struggled to recognize and pick up blitzes vs spread
1. you do realize that he has always been a pro style guy right?
2. how long did it take us to score in the 4th quarter this year? also remind me how many points we scored against the best defense that we have played?
3. so because his defense sucks he has to "open up" the playbook to play catch up?
4. RPOs arent that big of a deal and arent used a lot in a pro style system. what has been the national rankings of his offenses in the past 5 years?
5. again he doesnt run the spread so he isnt going to utilize his QBs the same as clemson and Louisville. also remind me how many QBs he has had drafted compared to the coaches at those other schools?
6. so?
7. BECAUSE HE DOESNT RUN THE SPREAD OFFENSE
8. he has a very young offensive line and redshirt freshman playing quarterback. hell our Oline has a hard time blocking the 4 down lineman

As stated earlier on this board, when Saban was not the most popular hire. He was not the ADs first choice. No sauce here my man. Just logic. Go through a COMPLETE interview process, and resist the temptation to jump on a popular name.

But Cook scored on simple run plays. I know one was the first play after an INT. The other drive couldn't have been more than a couple of plays.

Don't care. If it's him or O, he's the better choice. Sorry.

1. Yes. The college game is turning away from it.
2. I'm not a fan of the current staff either. So...
3. Click on the link above, watch the game. The offensive productivity speaks for itself.
4. Current CFB playoff poll - 1. Alabama (Spread) 2. Ohio State (Spread) 3. Michigan (Pro/multiple) 4. Clemson (Spread) 5. Louisville (Spread)
5. I think the trend twd including the QB in the run game is the reason the last SEC QBs to win the heisman were dual threats. Top 5 programs (do as they do)
6. so you dont agree. ok then lol
7. and thats a problem. he does run a spread when he trails lol
8. I dont see a lot of matchup probs. I see blitz recognition prob

I'm not against that, but I still want someone who's accomplished something on a higher level if we can get him. I'm not too concerned with the way we run offense, I would just rather have the safer pick.

Good points. But you can't ignore what going on with Jimbo now. You can't just assume that you plug him in here and VIOLA! Go through a thorough interview process. DONT crown someone the savior. Be bold enough to go with the less popular pic if it fits.

I applaud your objective efforts and would only ask that that you state the extraordinary limits of your analysis more vigorously and explicitly. Your conclusions are to be applied very narrowly. Keep up the good work.
