The man is about to have Cincinnati in the playoff. He’s by far the best coach that is available and hopefully who Woodward has been aiming to get. Look what he did with a bunch of 2 stars to Notre Dame. He almost pulled off the win against Georgia in the bowl game last year.

Anybody who honestly thinks LSU couldn’t pay Fickell enough to leave Cincy is delusional.

Fickell would be a good choice. He’s also a great fall back considering his path to the post season will extend well into January.

I don’t see how Woodward wouldn’t hold him in high regard. The only detraction is a concern about recruiting in the south. He’s done well going against the big boys in the Big 10 though.

He has 6 kids. I agree, money talks, but you have to think his number is really high to deflect interest.

Hard to get guy from that part of the country to move family down south. We are seen as crime ridden states. Def different then northerners.

The fact that we've heard zero rumors about Fickell makes me think he may be in play.

Could not agree more. Let's hope Fickell is Woodrow's white whale and that every one of these other names are utter smokescreen bullshite.

Anybody who thinks he is leaving is delusional, but by all means keep living in fantasy land.

You really think Fickell's ultimate ambition as a coach is to be the head man at Cincinnati ........ forever?

Who is delusional?

I think the lack of smoke is why not many of us are talking about him, but I don't think many people would be upset at the hire. He would be excellent.

Agreed. When he got the Cincy job, he said he wanted to set roots somewhere where he and his family could be for 10-15 years.

No matter what the OP believes, not every head coach is purely motivated by extra millions. It has to be the right fit, right community for their families.

Early mention then nothing. I seem to recall something like that recently. Was that during baseball season?

Fickell was my first choice. Just like Matt Rhule was back when we were looking in 2016.

FWIW - If we can't get Fickell, I think Campbell should be the hire. He kind of reminds me of Saban. He even had a nice run at Toledo, just like Saban.

He may a target and I believe he is, now weather or not Woody can get him down here to LSU is another thing altogether. It would be a great hire no doubt but he has six children a wife who all seem very happy living in Cincy.

As far a crime, all democrap run city's are high crime and there are areas that are safely away from the high crime areas so that argument can be addressed. We should know more in a week or so.

Why does no one shite on Fickell for never having to recruit the sec but that’s the main complaint about Campbell?

It’s like people form their opinions and only then do they try to justify them with something.

Don’t get me wrong I’d love fickell and I’d take him over anyone, including Riley, but his concerns are almost identical to Campbell’s.

He’s been my number one choice for a few weeks now. Would take over Riley and Napier which were my previous favorites. Mainly because defensive minded HCs are so rare these days. They only other two that come to mind are the top 2 teams in the country.
