Post a pic. Toughest looking coach since Don Yanowksy.
You might have just blown Yanowsky's Witness Protection status! A. Anastasia just got on a train...

Good to have the staff in place ahead of the final NSD and the Spring workouts. Now let's get after it, eight months to get this team back on track. No time like the present to point towards the future and work like there is no tomorrow.

Nobody is going to test Andre Carter, dudes in the NFL knew better than to test him too for that matter.
I don't think Carter is the type of dude to put up with any guys with soft attitudes either, and we could use a shift like that in mentality. Our D-Line will prosper under Andre Carter, was a BEAST of a player in the NFL and you know he understands D-Line play.

Connected to Daronte Jones and he’s a former teammate of Kevin Faulk.

Also the son of a NFL player and coach, lot of positives.

I love this pick up but what happened to joyner from smu?
He was my first choice because of the added recruiting.

quote:I assume Joyner will be a better recruiter also. But I also assume whatever my instinct on that is that it is wrong. Just too many variables. Joyner has TX going for him; Carter has the NFL. Both have age/energy. Who knows who will be better.

I tend not to put too much weight at all on geographical ties. That's why we have recruiting coordinators and are recruiters. They can direct a Carter to TX and tell him what areas/schools/counties to target. No HS coach in TX is going to turn Carter away. Geographical advantages in recruiting lie in:
- knowing who & where the players are
* now we have recruiting services, headhunters, and televised HS games
- getting to them for evaluations
* Like I said, ain't no HS coach going to turn Carter away
- Connecting with them
* You don't have to be from TX to get an invite to sit in some kids living room in Dallas or even Bastrop (pronounced Bass-trop by Texans btw) with a LSU logo on (or any SEC school for that matter).

I really like this hire.
In that jets pic he looks like charlemagne the radio guy.

Joyner just connects with these kids.
I think andre carter will be a great technical coach and great recruiter but joyner is on another level as a recruiter. Would've been nice to get him on staff as linebacker coach or some other position.
Star in the making.

Son of a DL coach and an nfl pedigree with connections with the DC. I like the direction they’ve gone as a whole.

How long have you known Joyner?

Carter's going to connect with them too. Whether they like it or not.

Why would an NFL DL coach want to take a "demotion" to be a College DL coach?
LSU pays more.
Plus maybe he ends up liking college coaching more. There are guys that are built for one and not the other or atleast enjoy one over the other
quote:
Does LSU actually pay their DL coaches more than NFL teams?
For sure. College coaching salaries are not being suppressed the same way assistant salaries are on the NFL level.
He’s getting 650k over two years, plus some salary the Jets still owe him.

As far as the Jets go, he wasn't retained by Saleh. He has been unemployed for about a week now...
