Don’t hire coaches from the broadcast booth.
I wouldn’t touch Mullen for the same reason.

I wonder how things would have played out for Tom had he chosen LSU.

Was he always just overrated AF or just unable to wash off the scent of the UT failure?

Still a fun few weeks on the board, rooting for Texas to win each week so strong would keep his job

I think there was a good coach in there but he’s got a bit of that Kiffin immaturity mixed with a touch of Sean Payton otherworldly hubris plus the Texas fiasco and now he may be a bit of a lost cause. Don’t see him bouncing back like sark especially with Saban rehab clinic closed.

I know Herman has sucked, but everyone has sucked at FAU except for Kiffin, and even he went 5-7 one year.

I'm not sure replacing coaches every 2 or 3 years is a good recipe to turn around a G5 program, even in the NIL/portal era.

LSU could have propped him up for a time

Mullen will get another chance if he wants it, he could run roughshod over the ACC

Coach Herman is probably going to have to be a head coach at the High School level for a little bit if he wants to keep kissing players.

He’s a bit of a prick and weirdo, which I’m guessing gives him less leeway with admin and boosters compared with someone with more charisma (ex: Mack Brown or even Coach O). His record wasn’t bad at Texas.

His Houston sample size was small. He inherited a talented roster and good QB that were recruited by Tony Levine. He won a NY6 bowl in year one and had that weird year two where there were nonstop rumors of him leaving and he managed to beat OU and Louisville with Lamar Jackson but lost to Navy, SMU and Memphis. He had a great recruiting class that year (headlined by Ed Oliver) and I wonder if he would’ve kept the momentum going had he stayed, though the team was due for a bit of a drop off given loss of senior talent.
