even after losing our best DB recruiter to our permanent cross divisional rival.

If Raymond spends all his time recruiting La as the DB coach at Florida then he and Napier won't be there very long.

You guys act like there's only a couple of guys in the country that can recruit La. Raymond has deep ties in La? Is he the only one? and we talk about NFL DBs? Remind me where is Patrick Peterson from? Jamal Adams? Chevis Jackson? Travis Daniels?

Yes BK gets it because the man has won at an elite level at 3 different schools. He has a 30 plus year coaching career where he has won every where.

Why would he be doubted?

Is he perfect? No, but as said if we do the right things and process results come.

I’m not going to melt because one guy leaves or more. I want guys that want to be at LSU player or coach.

If you have ever worked in a big business you are sad to see talent go but everyone is replaceable. Sometimes culture changes and some stalwarts go.

I was looking at the recruiting classes before he arrived at LSU. In the 5 years before he arrived, here’s some notable DB’s we were able to bring in without Raymond.

Jalen Collins
Ronald Martin
Eric Reid
Tyrann Mathieu
Tharold Simon
Craig Loston
Karnell Hatcher
Brandon Taylor
Chad Jones

Yeah we’re going to miss him, but we were DBU before Raymond arrived.

Nah man we must melt like small children and realize we are only dbu because of Raymond. We actually had never had a corner back here before Raymond.

And he went to UF, who we play annually. He will be trying to poach Louisiana talent

If Napier’s plan is to try to poach LA players instead of capitalizing on Miami and FSU troubles then he is doomed.

If the only reason to retain the guy is recruiting then that’s a poor reason IMO.

Not when you're one of the best recruiters in the country.

Louisiana has so many athletes on defense that Ron cooper could stack a defensive backfield by solely showing up at camp and picking his guys.

As for overall recruiting frank is still the man. We will be fine

Raymond has gotten a pass off reputation. Truth is outside of when Les was here and controlled the clock we have been bad as a pass defense

None of what I’ve said is related to him as a DB coach but rather to his ties to Louisiana high schools

We're 121st and 91st in pass defense the last two years.

Those numbers don't convince me the guy coaching the secondary can't be replaced.

OP, posting those stats and then drawing the conclusion that Corey Raymond wasn't a good coach is what is called oversimplification. The entire defense owns those stats. Scheme (Pelini says hello), player health (last two years good grief), the offenses you face, etc. all play a role.

Raymond is an exceptionally highly regarded DB coach at the college level. On top of that, he's one of the better recruiters in the country.

People tend to use stats the way a drunk uses a lampost ... for support rather than illumination.

Ron Cooper was also weak as a recruiter.
