Your are trying to reason with the same guys that don’t want Riley or Kelly because they never won the CFP, then they advocate Billy Bob Napier as the Next Saban even though he never won the Sun Belt.

I don't think we ever pursued Jimbo, it didn't make sense for either party. The Jimbo smoke was just clueless media connecting dots

No one thinks that, because that's not the timeline of events with BK. He was contacted immediately after the UCLA game. Once SW had to go back to boosters to ask for 13m per, SW knew he needed a backup plan as there was another player for LR. It was easy to pick conversations back up 3 weeks ago after initial vetting. Evidence is clear LR was choice #1, but it doesn't matter now.

LA can be rough, but driving around Baton Rouge looking at all the trash along the road is embarrassing. Baton Rouge is still a fricking dump.

Everyone would then know that the ONLY reason he left ND was b/c LSU paid him about 4x what he was currently making.

This may be part of the motivation.
Getting woefully underpaid for years pisses people off enough that even if ND matched LSU's offer, he'd still leave.
If they offer to match, they are slapping him in the face by admitting they could have paid him fairly all along, but they didn't.
So, if you are Wanted by LSU, getting paid right by LSU, and have greater potential at LSU... why wouldn't you leave?

Didn't someone report a few days ago that Kelly and ND had been at the negotiating table working on an extension for weeks/ months?

At the time I thought it sounded like ND was locking him down (and who thought it was likely he'd leave at that point?). Or maybe that he was slow playing ND to take advantage of the coaching chaos for a salary boost.

Now it sorta reads like ND started offering things once they thought/knew he'd talked to LSU weeks ago, and maybe he gave them the cold shoulder for not upping his salary before getting an offer to leave.

How often do we publicly hear about cfb contract extensions taking weeks to negotiate?

His ND salary is unknown so this whole argument is a nonstarter. Dude couldve been making $4m or $9m....who knows

the ND AD's comments lead me to believe the Kelly side was slow playing extension talks and that's why he said he's kind of seen this coming.

ND will be fine

OU is the huge loser here. They got blindsided, their recruiting classes are falling apart, and the transfer portal hasn't even begin to start spinning

How long before Vol comes in and tells us he was working with Woody to create a smokescreen?

I called that two to three days before Riley’s name started coming out. I honestly believe that there are some posters that were sent out to get the ball rolling on someone’s name. Problem was once that snowball started rolling downhill into the echo chambers, it got so big, there was no stopping it.

I’ve been here a long time. Probably too long. I’ve never seen a rumor take such a life of its own like the Riley thing did. To the point where guys who usually drop knowledge was even believing it. I understand that people think that no one on this board gets any good information. I get that. But that’s just not true. There’s been many, many times where we’ve gotten very good information here before we have on Twitter or from LSU pay sites who just confirm what we already heard.

Those guys could only share the information they’re given. And considering the fact that not even big money boosters knew who SW was going after, Rileys name was the only one that seemed to make any sense at the time to anyone. Even big money circles. No one will be 100% accurate. Ever.

This is all just theory, but misinformation was sent out by someone and it engulfed social media and there was nothing stopping it. I don’t know if that was by design or not, but if it was, it was brilliant.

It’s pretty obvious that Kelly was always the guy. Also obvious that Lincoln used LSU as cover (for whatever reason) by explicitly saying he want coaching here.

Lincoln moved LSUs timeline up because it looked like we were played and fan base was going into a frenzy. Said Scott had zero plan and we were about see coaches off the board (Napier being one and said he had zero contact with LSU). ND is waiting on a playoff spot and LSU waited as long as they could.

Neither the Riley move nor the Kelly move happened over night. They both are $100M deals that require cross country moves a few weeks from signing day.

Scott had a plan, it worked, now time to see if the hire works out

I don’t believe this for a second. Jimbo pissed off several high up taf guys last time when he agreed to the job and the next day wanted more money. The two nwla higher ups wouldn’t give a penny to try and bring jimbo back.

Kelly is a really good hire, I just assumed he wasn't really on the table. Previously on this board I said he'd be a good choice.

From day one I though the job made sense FOR Kelly. I just didn't think LSU thought it made sense for them.

Kelly is a guy who has been successful at every stop. He's accomplished a ton. Yet, the talent gap between the type of player he could get at ND on the whole vs the type of player Clemson, Alabama, Georgia, LSU could get was just too great for him to overcome to take the final step as an HC (winning a championship). It is not completely unlike Saban who had just had a good year at Michigan St. but also knew the recruiting grounds in the SEC were too fertile to pass up. That's why he reached out to LSU despite the fact LSU, up to that point, had been relatively cheap in their football spending.

Texas A&M idiots claim Jimbo spurned us even after offering him $13 million per year so we had to settle for BK
