What is Kiffin? He prob only has 2-3 wins if that. There is a clear divide between the upper echelon SEC teams.

Since 2020, Kiffin is 7-9 vs ranked teams (at the time the game was played)

Of those 7 wins (not counting 2 this season over LSU and Oklahoma)

1 was vs. Arkansas that finished 8-4
1 was vs. A&M that finished 8-4
1 was vs. Kentucky that finished 7-5
1 was vs. LSU that finished 9-3

And until this season (at OU) NONE of those wins were on the road.

Also, if you just focus on THIS season, Kiffin's wins are against

Kentucky (2-5)
Arkansas (0-5)
LSU (2-4)
S. Carolina (1-6)
Oklahoma (3-2)

I'm not saying Drinkwitz should be LSU's next coach. But it's ironic for the OP to make this case against Drink...while in the same breath have many LSU fans wanting to make Kiffin the highest paid HC in college football.

Oddly enough, I do believe you. If you were trying to gain notoriety as some sort of insider, you'd come here with rumors of who they were pursuing as a positive. Instead you're pleading for us to put pressure on them to NOT hire a specific coach.

Dammit, I believe you but because of who you're mentioning, I don't want to!

The worst part of a Drinkwitz hire would be the price you'd have to pay him. He's already making $9 million/yr at Mizzou. Is LSU really about to saddle itself with another massive contract for Drinkwitz?

I'd much rather pay cheap for a G5 coach, load up on staff and NIL, and hope for the best.

It’s early enough in the process not to freak out but we REALLY need to let them know our thoughts on Drinkwitz

LSU had opt outs and started Nuss in our bowl game that year and we won.

They forced McCord out cuz he sucked, got exactly what they wanted there. Only other starter that mattered that didn’t play was Marv and they had Egbuka and Tate playing in his stead, not like they weren’t playing studs as replacements. That was still a super talented team that probably would have been top 10 as well. When is the last time Ohio state wasn’t?

All that to say they still played the game and Missouri still won.

I'm not as down on Drink as others, but if he's our choice, it means we are toxic to the other more desirable coaches due to the political nonsense going on.

The AD thinks Drinkwitz is a good coach

ooooof....offensive coach with mediocre to bad offenses is a red flag.

Is he a bad coach? Nah. He's definitely not elite and nothing about him says "maaan if this guy just had better talent."

People act like Mizzou is this awful program and he's working miracles by making them mediocre, the reality is he's gotten Mizzou to about exactly where they should be in the SEC pecking order. Good for them, but that doesn't really move the needle here. I'd rather us gamble on a G5 guy than a "know what you're getting" hire like Drink.

Maybe baker is talking him up inside the building for job security,

Baker connection? Hmmmm....

He’s not. If he’s the only P5 coach willing then grab a coordinator or Baker. Use the money on NIL.

Thanks for moving this to the right place Chicken. If you want my source and proof please just shoot me a DM if you would like.

That’s what I’m saying. If the choices are Drink, who is a SEC HC that has experience and some success in this league, some random G4 coaches, or coordinators who’ve never led a program, then why wouldn’t we take the somewhat successful SEC HC?

Actually they are. If Brohm stays at Louisville and Sumrall takes the Auburn gig, I have a bad feeling that we end up with Drink. They’ll spin it as a way to maintain continuity, since Baker would likely stay. I’d rather take a chance on Alex Golesh, but never underestimate LSU’s ability to frick this up. Of all the new coaching hires in the SEC, we will end up with the most underwhelming one.

Philly specifically said Drink and Sumrall are off the list, "won't be our coach"

then you come here and post this

the board is insane during a coaching hire

paying drink more money than he's making now to come here given his resume would be fricking stupid.

Go G5 or coordinator, use the savings on the roster.
