Do you think there is a big enough number for Lanning to go to A&M?

I’m struggling to see how A&M is a better situation than Oregon. Oregon is joining the Big 10 so they will start getting huge TV checks, Oregon is one of the few places that can match A&M in unlimited NIL funds with Nike, and Oregon basically only has to compete with USC for California recruits while A&M has to contend with several schools in Texas. Oregon is also probably a lower pressure job. I would probably stay at Oregon if I was Lanning.

You’d have to be a jackass to leave Oregon. It’s stunning up here, plenty of resources and little to no pressure.

Oregon can get to the championship game. A&M has never sniffed one. It would be a downgrade for him. I think if it comes down to money, Oregon would give him enough to stay.

Agree on all points, but they could offer him an obscene amount of money. I’m thinking what does the number have to be for him to leave all the points you made in Oregon behind.

Will have to travel far to New Jersey or to other location where it is freaking cold!

At some point isn't enough money enough? He sounds like he really likes it there.

He is kind of a southern guy. Born in Missouri, but coached in Texas, Memphis, Georgia, and Alabama.
He coached sixty miles from A&M at Sam Houston State.
Maybe he wants to come back to the South.

He has a $20 million dollar buyout if he leaves. I know saggy has money but it’s not going to happen. After buying out Jimbo and the rest of the staff they aren’t paying Oregon $20 million for their coach.

Oh gosh, that means he is a lock to be the next aggie coach then

I don't think Lanning is interested in A&M. He has a good situation at Oregon.

...or maybe he has compared where he is living now to College Station and wants no part of College Station.

No. They’ve made it known they don’t have the money to go beyond 7 million per year this time
