Do we know why the decision was made for O not to coach the bowl?

Seems like the new coach could hit the recruiting trail while O finishes the season. Similar to urban at osu when fickell was coaching the bowl

They were obviously tired of him embarrassing the program every week with what he said in the media

O had an approved time off he requested from last month when he didn’t expect to make a bowl game

My guess: To open up a coaching position so the new coach can recruit.

Expectations of having a new coach on campus. Having the old coach coaching the team while new guy tries to get started is a recipe for shitstorms.
John Brady did an interview with Jacques Doucet a couple of years ago. He said one of the things that hurt him the most early on was Dale hanging around after he took over. Dale was at every home game and in the building a lot. Brady said it was tough and made him paranoid to a fault.

Guys, we have a copy of the new coach o contract to be the interim through the rest of the year.. someone go back and see if there is a reference to bowl games. This will tell us.

he said there was a decision that once the new coach was hired he would step away and that the new coach would he hired In the next week or 2. since the new coach will be in place before the bowl game, he is all done.

I just read it, the new employment agreement stated that the postseason was an option that would have to be exercised by LSU. And should LSU exercise the option, there were specific amounts he would be paid. Doesn’t look like it was Coach O who made the decision. The temporary employment agreement ends Nov 30th.
