I think Riley was first choice. But he had a masterful back up plan. That’s what separates him from Alleva.

Fisher was first choice, Riley second, Kelly was at least 3rd. I’m sure a pass was made at Dabo.

As T-Bob said he has the #6 team in the country, likely in the playoffs again and he just walked out to come to baton rouge. Unbelievable that SW could pull that off.

Absolutely false. You need to research the A&M guys that knew Woody. They were talking yesterday about how Woodward did not think much of Riley. He thought he was soft and didn’t think he would be a success in the SEC. “Not Woodward kind of guy” according to A&M guys that knew him when he was there

Fisher was never contacted. Riley may have had conversations but he was never offered and from the speed with which everything has happened, never seriously pursued

I just think Scott would have gotten out in front of the Riley stuff. Not announce it a day or two later. This was most likely a back up plan. He probably had guys lined up which was nice and a breath of fresh air.

I am beginning to think Kelly was the only choice. If I remember right there was a post about the Catholics in Louisiana would love the Woodward pick. Maybe all the melting of the fan base and losing boosters/recruits forced LSU to come out with an announcement early. Who knows what happens this weekend with the championship games. Would the committee pass up ND with Kelly gone?
