What's idiotic is that the anti O people are claiming that Orgeron got this job because he promised he'd get Kiffin. Kiffin took another job and now we don't know what to do, so we're scrambling and begging people to come coach our offense.

Names get leaked mostly by agents to get their client more money somewhere. I'm not sure Sexton does this tho, he isn't very good.

But that's what's happening. Kiffin taking another job is being painted as this big fail on Orgeron's fault, even though a lot of people didn't want him here.

It's not idiotic to ask a question with an obvious answer in order to get people to realize that their understanding of this entire situation is based on bullshite.
If it's pathetic to assume O would come out and name Kiffin or anyone, which of course he wouldn't, then 99% of the shite posted to this board is also pathetic, because it would only make sense if what we know would never happened had actually happened.

No. He was asked if he was going to hire Kiffin. His response was LSU was going to hire the best OC in the country. People read into it that he meant that Lane was the best OC in the country.

so if an OC is offered/accepted/named today, then how could you not see the context clues that Kiffin was the main target?

- Kiffin accepts FAU on 12/12/16
- Canada comes in for in-face interviews on 12/13/16

How is it not reasonable to assume that Orgeron was waiting for a resolution on the Kiffin saga before actually going after someone else?
It seems like candidates were vetted within the last week or so, but no real traction from LSU's side until Kiffin was announced for FAU. Then, that gets LSU to spring into quick action shortly after.

The O fan club will claim he never wanted Kiffin and will say whoever he hires was his intended target all along. Everybody knows that O was hinting at hiring Kiffin the whole time though.

No one should really dispute that Kiffin was #1. I just think it's asinine to think that Alleva gave O the job based on a promise that he'd get Kiffin. There was a list of names, Kiffin was at the top. Any sensible person would know that Kiffin would want a HC job if it became available. Probably no one expected him to take the FAU job. Oh well, who's next.
