Is there something that leads you to believe he won’t be able to recruit kids to Alabama other than Brian Harsin being a colossal failure? We’ve seen plenty of Midwest guys come to the southeast and kill it in recruiting. Urban Meyer, Les Miles, hell even Brian Kelly is off to a hot start in 2025

Wishful thinking. They've built a recruiting infrastructure that will allow them to continue at a high level even if DeBoer isn't a dynamic recruiter himself. This may be worst case hire for other SEC fans. He won't keep Saban's pace, but with what they have in place, he's too good a coach to crash it down. Anytime soon, at least. Nice hire, Gumps. shite.

He is not really a midwest guy and from looking at his past classes, he almost exclusively recruits west coast. He might do amazing, it just seems like a pretty big risk considering who they are replacing.

I dont care what infrastructure bama has in place, Bama's recruiting will not be the same. Kids for the most part committed to Saban. Now I'm not saying they'll all the sudden going to be ranked in the 30s for recruiting but not top 2 every year.

I’m happy he probably won’t be looking to poach LSU coaches new hires!

Excellent points. Harsin was recruiting to a broken program, not to the gold standard program. Another Midwest guy who had spent his entire career outside the SEC footprint did somewhat decently when LSU imported him about 25 years ago. Saban I believe was his name.

None of these guys recruit on a consistent basis like Saban. Fair or not that is who DeBoer will be compared to.

Meh….DeBoer doesn’t really frighten me at all. I don’t think he’ll be a colossal failure on Harsin’s level because of said infrastructure in place but there are certainly a lot of question marks on surrounding this one.

Kiffin at Bama would have worried me more
