Unless he just flat out wants to move from Oregon I don't see the reason to leave that situation. Facilities, Money, Big 10, and Brand already going. They're primed for a natty......
If we can make the pitch and it actually works.....he'd be my top choice

NIKE money has him tied to Eugene. Move on.
Saban will be the next AD and Kiffin will be the next HC

I’d love Lanning and have said it’s not happening. I’m just speaking to this “stock” that’s not public or verified.
Even taking the stock out of the equation, his buyout is $20 million
A few other high profile coaches
Lane Kiffin $4 Million
Kirby Smart $5 Million
Kalen Deboer $4 Million
Steve Sarkisian $4 Million
Ryan Day $6 Million
Curt Cignetti's is the highest other one I have found and its $15 Million.
I just think we just need to stop pretending that he is a viable option, stock or no stock, not directed at you as you said its not going to happen, just to the thread in general.

Oregon is the most over-rated team in the history of sports. It is the NIKE ad money that gets them the air time so Phil Knight can feel warm and fuzzy while selling cheap athletic gear produced by child labor.

Lanning would be my number 1.
I just don’t think it’s feasible even if he wanted to leave Oregon.

Think he may be worried about what happens after Knight passes away. Will his kids care at all about Oregon football succeeding?
Not saying he is a realistic possibility just giving a different opinion

Lanning is from Missouri. Coached at Alabama and Georgia. Probably would like to come back to the SEC at some point but, right now, Phil Knight Nike money is doing all the talking.

Graves will give him 15% ownership of Canes if he comes.

Then why did he take the Oregon job in the first place? He could have waited a year or two and landed any SEC job of his choice like Kirby did. He was already on that path as an elite DC and recruiter on what was at the time the best program in the country. But he chose to leave for Oregon instead of waiting for Bama, Florida, or whoever to open.
This is just baseless assumption that he himself has rebuffed countless times. He has it way too good at Oregon with everything rolling, and by all accounts he likes it up there and doesn't care that he is in the Pacific Northwest.

Dan Lanning (Oregon): Seen as a prototypical coach for the modern era, with a combination of recruiting prowess and motivational skills
I’d love to have Lanning, but I don’t think he would leave Oregon. My second choice would be Kenny Dillingham from ASU. I want no part of James Franklin or Clark Lea. Kiffin would excite the fan base, but he’d ask for way too much money and I think he’d leave us in a heartbeat.

his recruiting prowess is a blank check

Like I said Phil Knight $$$. Football is dying a slow death on the West Coast. Oregon had to join the B1G to stay relevant and fly 4000 miles round trip for away games.

Why would he leave Oregon? He can dominate in the Big 10 every year and the job is way more stable than LSU right now.

You aren't capable of getting Dan Lanning.
