CU athletic department had to borrow 8 million from the university 2 years ago, (which they still owe), so yes they are fricked.

Yeah, but Notre Dame has more money than probably any other school in the country that actually fields a football team. 20M is a drop in the bucket.

Weis's buyout isn't near the $20mm the media reports. It's $20mm if he had met certain performance measures, but he didn't come close. I've heard the true buyout amount is closer to $5mm, which is the balance of his base salary for the remaining years on his contract.

I'll contribute to the BAF if they agree to take Les off our hands.

If you can't afford a $3M buyout you might as well end the football program. The Colorado football program is going nowhere.

We should offer to pay it if they would take Les, then we would only be on the hook for the portion of Les salary not paid by CU.

That would be the cheapest way to send LM packing.

No, after his first year, they gave him a ten year extension.

Hawk should just work out a deal and leave with some respect. Knowing the only reason you kept your job is because they cannot afford to fire you would suck. Also how will he be able to recruit new players or keep the ones that are already there. The Buffs already had several top players move on. Its a bad deal for the school because whomever they hire will have to rebuild from the bottom.
