Orgeron said Derek Ponamsky, LSU's special assistant to Orgeron, has been in contact with Brady during the search, hoping to find candidates who can replicate the schemes they ran when the Tigers won the program's fourth national championship.

"Joe, who can run your offense?" Orgeron said Ponamsky asked Brady. "And he recommended me two guys, and they're here with me today."

So O isn’t even the one calling Brady

To be fair Brady probably understands Ponamsky on the phone better.

Orgeron said he believes in Brady's offense, and that he thought in 2020, "we lost a little bit of it, But that was just because of the expertise of Joe, and I want to get back to that offense."

But it was all Esminger!

Also totally agree I don't know how in the hell Orgeron isn't the one making the call to Brady, goodness.

Why? He’s re-recruiting draft eligible players, finishing out the recruiting class, planning for football school which is starting in 2 weeks..

A special assistant can’t relay O’s questions to Brady & get recommendations?

I’d like to see any of you all manage the schedule that Ed Orgeron has

It's hard to get the right words to describe how profound this statement is.

Our head coach is so clueless about the offense he wants to run that he is going to swallow whole the recommendation of the guy who used to run it. He's not going to evaluate the candidate's ability himself. Because he doesn't know what to ask. He's going to hire them solely because someone else said they are good. So if they can talk the talk and dangle something shiny in the interview, O is going to bite. Because he's doesn't have the knowledge to evaluate their offensive knowledge.

What other coach in D1 football is utterly so incompetent at Xs and O's that he has to rely exclusively on the opinions of others to tell him who to hire?

"A lot of respect for Joe (Brady). Derek (Ponamsky) had most of the conversations with him." #LSU Coach O tells @OTB_ESPN they asked Brady "who can run your offense?". Brady recommended two guys and they're in town today. We assume that's @Panthers Jake Peetz and DJ Mangus.

From Jacques Doucet...a good sportswriter. I would assume that O called Joe and asked for his help and Derek got with him on the details.
