Staying at UW in an advisory role

The Athletic CFB @TheAthleticCFB NEWS: Washington head coach Chris Petersen will step down after the bowl game, DC Jimmy Lake will take over as head coach Petersen will "transition into a leadership advisory role for Husky Athletics."

Link says he's staying at UW in an adviser role. Wonder if that is legit.

Retiring or going to USC? He has a really sick kid doesn’t he?

I have no idea what’s going on with his kid but I know he has been seeing doctors in Seattle since the Boise days and that’s one of the reasons he has stuck around the PNW.

He seems to have a pretty low key personality, I doubt he is looking for another fishbowl job

Probably stepping back so that he's got more time with his kid. Just a guess any way. I doubt he leaves for USC

Hopefully his family is ok. That's not a good sign

Wow. Doesn't sound like he's leaving for another job, so I hope there isn't a sad reason behind it.

Doesn't sound at all like he's taking another job. Sounds like he's semi-retiring for the time being.

He's made a bunch of money. Maybe he just doesn't want to do it anymore.

Really hope it isn't because his kid is taking a poor turn health wise. Guy seems like a great family man.

This. These coach initiated step downs to way less time consuming jobs usually aren’t good news.

Hopefully this is the case. And I couldn't blame him one bit for that.

Recruiting is a 365 day a year job. The grind of coaching a major college program is insane.

No wonder Jimmy Lake turned down DC jobs at other big schools. There had been rumors that Alabama wanted him after Pruitt left, but he opted to stay at Washington and became Co-DC.

BREAKING Chris Petersen To Step Down at Washington, DC Jimmy Lake taking over. This is part of why Lake has turned down so many good jobs before.

Did not expect this. He was on the shortlist of people I would replace Nick Saban with.

He released a statement. Essentially: He's burned out and doesn't want to be a HC for a little while.

Kiffin to the great Northwest?

Do they mean that Lake has been given the permanent job (re: McMurphy's tweet about him turning down other jobs) or is it an interim tag?
