You either totally trust BK to make all the football decisions or you don’t. I do.

We’re getting exactly what needed to happen. I don’t know why people expected us to just get rid of special Ed and keep everyone that he hired.. not how it happens.

You can trust him and still not like a certain hire.

It's not like every coach is going to work out.

I have no issue with people being concerned about losing Raymond. I have no issue with wondering how much Cooks adds to the staff. I do have an issue with people judging those decisions without knowing the entire context (why Raymond left, what position Cooks will coach, how do they fit with the remainder of the staff that’s yet to be announced, etc.) I also have a problem with random guys on the internet thinking they know better than Kelly who is or is not a good coach. That’s not what I would call trusting Kelly. Let’s at least wait for the finished product before casting judgment.

That's fine... but the whole kneejerk reaction thing cuts both ways. Assuming and going bat shite crazy because they think Cooks will NOT be an on-field coach is just as applicable to the ones that assume he is. Here's a response to Chalky (I think):
quote:

COOKS IS NOT THE DB COACH!...
They shouldn't be ripping on posters when they don't know either.

In fact, it's pretty logical to assume (I'm talking yesterday afternoon) that Cooks was going to be an on-field coach because he had coached DBs AND co-DC directly for Kelly before with coaching Ss at other stops. The idea that he would remain an analyst with that history and when we know Raymond is gone (prior to knowing his pay) is a pretty good educated guess. To assume he would stay an analyst with under those circumstances is the illogical assumption. Yet, the one's who made the illogical assumption are/were all over this board ripping into the ones who made the educated guess.

Can we let a season or two play out before we draw lines on if we are pro-kelly or anti-kelly?

Blindly believing one or the other this early seems a bit rash.

He wasn't my first choice when we fired O, but I'll go in with an open mind and see how I'm feeling once the "new car smell" goes away.

I agree. I want what I want, and yes, winning is most important; but my greatest concern will always be a boring offense, one that keeps too many talented athletes on the bench when more should be out there SPREADING the field to the absolute maximum possible. Until I can see with my own eyes what Kelly and his OC are doing on offense, the jury's still out for me.

I trust him. I still like picking things apart, while fully aware that I'm unqualified to do so. At the end of the day, I support things and want a positive outcome.

This fan base wanted CEO, the OC and the DC all fired and replaced. No more.

Well, this is renovation project... this is a demolition project.

Yeah, it’s not as simple as, “he was at Texas Tech and they didn’t have good safeties.” Hopefully we already have better players and can manage better recruits and a better coaching staff than they did. It can make a huge difference in whether he will succeed.

No we can’t. Woody guaranteed BK $95 million. Woody crowned him. Just like he did Jimbo. How’s that working out?

I agree there were a few posters who were just as wrong in their insistence that Cooks would just be an analyst. Most people disagreeing with him were simply stating that we don’t know what position he will take. It’s clear now analyst is not one of the possibilities, but it wasn’t then. It’s still not clear if he will coach safeties, CBs, all DBs or even remotely some other position. More than likely he won’t be THE DB coach. He’ll probably be one of two since that is how Kelly has constructed his staff previously. None of that tells us he’s a direct replacement for Raymond. He easily could have been hired to coach safeties even if Raymond stayed.

To be fair, BK didn’t leave a dumpster fire to get his big pay day! Jimbo, well he destroyed FSU on his way out. That alone would have scared me away from him. They were no better than LSU this past season.

Trust is earned and he hasn’t coached a single game at LSU

I have faith, but I don’t like allowing Raymond to bounce for UF of all places. We play them every goddamn year and they tend to attract good DBs

Raymond will poach talent from our backyard. Count in it

Give me all the downvotes
