Mawae does have some coaching experience. He I is a very smart guy with a great football mind. He has tons of NFL contacts. He has plenty of experience teaching O-Line play.

The Bear didn't hire him cause of his accent. He knows his shite and he would be a big plus on any staff.

Mawae is an intern. He holds up the play card for the scout team OL

Ben Wilkerson is the assistant OL coach for the bears and is a much better candidate

Mawae cant recruit, it's the only why reason Grimes wont be fired

He was elected a couple of times to be president of the NFL Players Association. That shows a certain level of being liked... or at least respected, plus the ability to understand politics, communicate and be persuasive. This should translate well to recruiting if he's interested.

Shouldn't the OC be involved with an O-Line coaching decision? Aren't blocking schemes determined by the offensive scheme? And shouldn't the o-Line coach from a technical and teaching perspective be aligned with the overall offensive scheme?

He isn't an intern. He is an assistant o-line coach.

He's not even listed on the website. LINK

I'm not anti-Mawae. I'm against him getting a the job over qualified guys because he had a segment on ponamsky's radio show

Ben Wilkerson would be a good hire

Kiffin can bring Cristobal or Key over from Bama.

Super Bowl rings and yellow sports coats (soon) aren't impressive at all to HS kids. Haven't you heard? ..

But his dumbass lobbied to be the OL coach when we hired Grimes with really zero experience

wrong

He coached at Vanderbilt after retirement. Has done multiple NFL internships through their minority internship program.

Hell he even does private coaching thru Traction to get OUR NFL prospects ready for the combine.

You're out of your mind if you think a future hall of famer, however many time pro bowler can't coach up these young kids at the collegiate level even with limited experience.

I listened to Mawae speak at his LSU Hall of Distinction induction. Kevin would be a phenomenal recruiter for LSU, and it's evident not many love LSU more than him.

Still the no experience topic bothers me. Make him a shadow coach and promote him later

How much experience do you think a future HOFer needs to coach the position he mastered over 20something years?

He was a strength and conditioning intern at Vanderbilt.

If you think Mawae is qualified to be full time OL coach at a major college football program, you're crazy

Hire Ben Wilkerson. He has actual coaching credentials and I'm sure he loves lsu too, since that's so important.

Exactly.

If i had a son who was being recruited by LSU, you better believe Kevin's the guy I would want my son to mentor under.

Is anyone stupid enough to think he doesn't know as much as anyone on the planet about OL?

Dude is a hall of famer, players president, and basically coached the line when he played and made all the calls.

My God there's some idiots here.

Seriously? Cristobal and Key are absolutely vital to Alabama, recruiting and position coaching, they're not going anywhere.

I want to know in what world Mawae or Faneca (ETA - or Wilkerson) could be worse than Jeff Grimes.

I mean, Mawae and Faneca actually know how to play offensive live - I seent them do it - you know back in the day.

(Welcome back, baw.)
