No thank you! I will be pissed off if we hire Kiffin, fact

Bruh.... The brand is damaged as F right now.
If you win titles and don't let players rape or kill people (which I get may exclude Briles) then you are fine.

He had a 3000 yard passer 2 1000 yard receivers and a 1000 yard rusher in one year there
How was the offense looking when he was fired? Couldn't complete a forward pass the way I remember it.

didn't we do that with Mett/Hill/OBJ/Juice?
Yep. He then subsequently has had incredible offenses with Blake sims Jake Coker and now a true freshman jalen hurts

Some heavy Lane Kiffin to LSU talk:
LINK
quote:
LSU's coaching search should be limited to one person: Lane Kiffin
quote:
On Sept. 10, after Alabama fumbled late in its 38-10 victory over Western Kentucky, Saban ripped into Kiffin on the sideline. The old Kiffin — like the 31-year-old version who infuriated Al Davis — might have rolled his eyes, muttered or jawed back. The new Kiffin, 41, he just took it, evidence of his newfound maturity. But back to football. LSU is desperate for offense, and he would ensure that. With Kiffin taking over as offense coordinator at Alabama in 2014, he helped identify and mold two starting quarterbacks and the Crimson Tide won the 2015 national championship.

They were 5-6 the year before or 5-7 something like that and he was bringing in a top ten class to Tennessee. They made a bowl game that year and Tennessee fans were very excited. He crushed them when he left for his dream job at USC

no he isn't, he is a better choice than Briles and probably 100 other coaches.

What has he done outside of Tuscaloosa to make him worthy of a top 5 hc job?
What has Herman done? Plenty of coaches have been very successful at the mid major level and then mediocre when they got a P5 job. Peterson at Boise, Fedora at USM, Sumlin at Houston.
If I'm Joe Alleva, my first call is probably to Gary Patterson. A defensive coach that's lead TCU from the mountain west into the big 12 and been a perennial top 10 team. He's changed with the times and built his offensive scheme around the players he can recruit, and has one of the most prolific offenses in the country year in and year out with a roster full of 3 star players. Connections in Texas...he's the last guy I'd wanna see at LSU. Herman is the shiny new toy. At one point, Mullen and Sumlin were spoken about in the same breath.

No, Don't want to win bad enough to put Joey as the face of my alma mater.
No friggin way.
You want titles at all costs, go be a gump.

The only time he's been successful was when he was under two hall of fame head coaches. Any other time he burned it to the ground.

He went 7-6 at Tennessee. That's not exciting. That's a shitshow. He's a poor HC but a great OC, and I'd be happy to have him as an OC, but not as a HC
They were pretty tough during that stretch though. They weren't an easy out.
That said, I don't want him as HC at LSU. Maybe OC.

He also has improved as a coach tremendously
He is the same guy
He was an amazing OC at USC
thats why he got a HC job.
He wasn't a good HC anywhere he went.

the narrative of him being a failure as a head coach is blatantly false
no it isn't. he was a failure as a head coach and that is patently true.

If he's learned his lessons under Saban and can control himself you want him. The guy can flat out coach quarterbacks and he's an excellent judge of offensive talent.
If he can't we want you to have him.
Only way to know unfortunately will be for you to hire him.

Kiffin is a great QB Coach/Coordinator....not so much a HC...besides who wants a 75 yo DC

Usually you back up your arguments with facts. I cited the best season and recruiting tenn had for much of a decade+the best run that USC has had this decade WHILE UNDER SANCTIONS.
You have cited nothing.
I get that he's a prick. Sabah is a prick. Belicheck is a prick.

ALL OF THIS.......
it's a sad day when Gumps make the most sense on an LSU board.
