I swear I see this exact rumor every year.

I’ve just made peace with the fact that Saban is never leaving Bama until he retires, and that he’s probably the Paterno-type who won’t ever retire. So hopefully in about 20 years college football will be interesting again.

It isn’t happening but how funny would it be if he did this and Pruitt jumped from UT to Bama. Would cement the Tennessee coaching search as the most colossal clusterfrick in the history of mankind

Nah. The time for Saban to return to the NFL has passed. He will be 67 in October and he simply has it much too good in Alabama to leave. He once said going to the NFL was a big mistake he made, and though I really want to believe this latest rumor about him, I don't. Saban will probably coach into his 70's provided his health holds up.

he'd be a fool, the sec is crumbling around him and he's got front running kids flocking to play for him. Greatest ever.

He could be interested in hookers and blow but I don't think he'll act on that either.

He's too old to change jobs I think. He'll win a few more nattys at Bama and retire

Now unless the Giants are about to pay him 12-15 mil/year, give him full personnel control, and an ownership stake....then maybe he will go to NY.

The dude is 66 and has more money than he or his kids or grand kids could ever spend.

If he did go it won't be for money it will be to prove he can do the only thing he has failed at and that is be successful in the NFL.

I agree with this^^. And imho, Saban has made his peace with the fact that he was not successful as an NFL head coach. I really don't think he cares about that. He will go down as the greatest college football coach in history, and I'm sure that will be plenty enough legacy for him.

I hate Bama as much as anyone. But, doesn’t matter if he goes to NFL, because Debo will replace him and keep that machine rolling.

I hope he goes to New York, fails again, then comes back to the SEC as Auburn's coach.

Saban couldn't give two shites about his "failed" NFL tenure. He's had 10 years to take any open job there was and don't act like he couldn't have had each and every one. He is bothered by his dolphins tenure none.

No way. He is god in AL making way too much money. No way he leaves what he has built for a bunch of whiny NFL players.

Agree, all he does at Bama is win NC's and put up with the whiny college players pushing, screaming at and trying to fight position coaches on national TV.

Saban blows as a professional coach and he knows it. Thanks to his screw up, the Saints got Drew Brees.

He wants no part of the NFL.

You are clearly not of the same personality as Saban or else you would know that people with that type of personality take failure very hard. Now it's possible that his accomplishments in college have lessened the anxiety he likely feels about his failure in the NFL but I can assure you it is something he thinks about.

I'm not saying he's going to the NFL. At this point in his career I believe it's highly unlikely (mostly due to the fact that I don't believe his wife wants to move. Women, as they age, generally become more complacent in their lives and have less desire to for a change of scenery). But it is by no means out of the question. If Tuscaloosa had a pro team, (or anywhere close enough they could stay where they are) I believe he would take that job in a heartbeat.

Once he found out that each team got a turn in the draft every round he lost interest in the NFL. He has the equivalent of two or three picks to everyone else's one right now (at least in the first few rounds). Overwhelming talent is what he needs to be successful.

The biggest road block to Saban with the Giants was George Young and he is no longer alive. George Young hated Saban according to Mike Francesa

Not saying it is even remotely possible
