It actually makes sense that is the approach that Sexton and Lane would take. That way Ole Miss has to let him keep Coaching.

He's certainly not an insider, but that info likely is correct. If he had told the OM AD he was gone, he would have been suspended and wouldn't be coaching the egg bowl

When have legitimate "big boosters" ever leaked sensitive info like this? I can’t recall a single major coaching hire where a real booster was posting details publicly. This sounds more like attention seeking than an actual insider with better info than the average fan

I’m pretty sure the boosters and people that would actually have this info, point and laugh at Bowers. He doesn’t know when to shut up, so I doubt very seriously he gets any legit info from anywhere.

This is almost certainly true - Kiffin wants to continue coaching his team. If he told them he's gone, then they would send him out the door. I'm certain he just went into that meeting last Friday and said he is only focused on this team and what are you gonna do about it?
