A lot of these top head coaches don't go " on the trail"

Brian kelly might visit a guy or two close to home.

I can't see this working out either but I don't think anyone is going to give him an NFL job. Just look at what he did for oc his last couple yrs in New england.

He has to be doing advising or something. There is no way he actually interviewed for that job. It makes absolutely no sense.

Seems like a mutually beneficial PR job

UNC gets people talking about them big game hunting

Bill makes it clear he’s ready to get back to work

If he interviewed it was a face time with his 8 SBs behind him

3. UNC has a lot of upside, including likely future P2 status, but like everything UNC football, the idea on paper is not the current reality we’re in. But for now “Belichick OMG!” is a PR win while they continue to shuffle things internally

A buddy of mine is a UNC fan and said that his granddaughter goes to UNC. That’s the only reason I can come up with why he would even interview for this job.

I can’t see Belichek taking a college coaching job.

I thought he would be content at age 72 being a football commentator on TV. Maybe not.

Would Bryce Brown want to play QB for him?

this is odd, especially since Saban is his best friend and Saban realized he wasn't meant for this new era of football with players asking for raises in the season. I cant imagine BB dealing with that.

The world deserves a camera in the room when BB is asked to negotiate a NIL deal with an 18yo kid and his handler.

Sell himself to the Bengals and get yourself another franchise QB. College would be a disaster for him

Seen a few articles suggesting Tulane's Sumrall is a top target for UNC

UNC is a wealthy school. Maybe ol' Bill thinks he can leverage some NIL and buy a good roster. May work.

Any potential staff would include Matt Patricia, Ben McDaniels (Texans passing game coordinator and brother of Josh McDaniels) as well as a sitting college GM who would handle general operations — NIL, recruiting, etc.

Belichick’s preference, from what I’m told, remains a return to the NFL. But the landscape is already considered thin based on feedback for the league. Moving to college with a guarantee for his son will overrule waiting on the NFL carousel

Some added context: Steve Belichick has already been approached about other college head coaching roles. He has taken Washington's defense to 28th in S&P+ this season after they finished 50th last year

That sounds even faker than the first report

ETA I will say I like this better than the other rumor floating about this job (and the resulting change in coach at the school they pluck from)

I've seen a lot of people say that recruiting is over, it's just about NIL now. So, what's the problem with him interviewing? Send your NIL people out to bribe the top players to come play then you coach them. The problem I see for him, though, is in dealing with the very little knowledge some college freshmen will have about football. He's probably used to working with new players that already have a good baseline, coming out of college. Can he break things down simple enough for the college game?
