True, but he left now and tried the NFL out and it didn’t work out, (think Nick Saban), he could name his price if he wanted to go back to college. Money is only going to go up

Caleb Williams is the 29th best starting QB in the league, he paints his nails, and he’s alarmingly uncoachable

Some guys want to move up to the pros. Some don’t. You can’t argue that the NFL offers a FAR more stable situation than College for coaches right now with the chaos of NIL, the portal and the insanely stupid schedule the sport’s offseason runs on.

The NFL is so nepotistic that once your in, your in for life. Make the switch and never look back. Hell, if he fails, but becomes a media darling at the same time, he will go straight to another head coaching job.

Freeman should cash in while he’s hot. His worst case is he fails in Chicago and blames it on Williams.
He’d be on every big programs list for a head coaching job back in college if the NFL doesn’t work out.

I agree....if he ever had any thoughts of being a NFL HC.
College football is a mess with NIL and the transfer rules. That's unlikely to change anytime soon and more and more coaches are stepping away because they are tired of being more fundraiser/GM than coach. As far as his family is concerned, its not a big move at all from South Bend to Chicago. You're talking about a 2 hour drive (if that) between the two (not that Freeman would live in South Bend and commute to Chicago every day)
Best case scenario he becomes a winner in a big market with a young QB. Worst case, he struggles and is fired. However, he would be met with open arms in college football if he wanted to return (no one would hold failure with the Bears...who fail more often than not...completely against him).
If I were him, I would strongly consider it.
