Second that.

He did better than most the last decade.

He's had several stints as a Co-DC and no one, until now has seen him fit to run his own defense.

Auburn pass defense national rank last 3 years:

2014: 70th
2015: 63rd
2016: 61st and this was a big time down year for SEC West passing offenses.

I'll wait and see how his defense is but the guy is a tenacious recruiter and Ole Miss has been missing that on the defensive side of the ball

Imagine if LSU made hires like this. The melt would bring the site down.

They go fast AF at Sam Houston.

So he was basically hired to run the offense Ole Miss already runs on steroids. RIP to their defense

Longo is a better hire than McGriff... has play calling experience at the D1 level.

Fact: Sam Houston was one of S's top 3 schools coming out of hs

Fact: S fell asleep on visit whilst getting PowerPoint presentation of academic amenities.

I think that most Ole Miss have already accepted what a disastrous hire that Phil Longo is. Hugh Freeze is a sun belt coach in an SEC coaches' body.

Auburn was 16th in team pass defense efficiency this year.

NCAA and NFL being two very different beasts, I believe you.

Wasn't exaggerating though. He led the most inept professional backfield I've ever seen, and I think statistically the worst in league history too.

And 13th in yards per attempt at 6.1, 2nd in the SEC (Bama was #1 with 5.5 ypa; UF averaged 6.2 and LSU finished with 6.6).

I thought McGriff did a solid job for us. Good luck to him if he ends up back in Oxford.

Guy oversaw the worst secondary in NFL history and has never guided his own defense. AT BEST he's a total unknown as a coordinator with poor secondary coaching.

What happened in the NFL is meaningless because he did not pick the players.

Dude was great this year for Auburn. Literally the best our DBs have looked since Tubs left town in 2008.

But I think its down to us and Auburn..

would be stupid not to choose us.. he plays right away and is the feature back his soph year..

What? For Cam Akers?

We aren't even in the running for him

The Sam Houston guy has been successful. I actually was just reading a small article on them sometime earlier this week because I'm a big fan of the air raid. I think he will fit like a glove there.

Maybe the Saints just have a shitty defense. Not a whole lot of talent to work with there. If he can figure out how to stop the run with our defense I'll be satisfied.

Deal for Wesley McGriff, per Ross Bjork, is three-year deal, $1 million, 1.1 and 1.2 million. Longo deal is 2 years, 600K and then 700K

Dear lord ole miss... $1 million plus for a DC with zero experience?
