They let the "smoke screen" get way out of hand and got fans excited.

If it's not Riley, he can't control what people make up and rumor. It's not his job to dispel baseless rumors if that's what they are.

This is a total smokescreen. There’s no way anyone other than SW and his inner circle that knows who the real target is. I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s a pro coach that hasn’t been on the radar.

This is so dumb.
You realize Woodward had nothing to do with all the message board rumors and fake insiders, right?
And it's entirely possible he did leak a little to throw cold water on the Riley rumors, everyone just ignores the CFB reporters and actual insiders because they're not saying what you want to hear.
Sometimes a coach like Riley doesn't want to leave where he is, and money isn't the biggest factor to them. That's not Woodward's fault either.

If Riley isn’t the target he still has someone big in mind but the issue is if Riley is the target and he has pushed all his chips in on him and Riley stays then where does SW look?

Why? He hasn’t said anything. Because this board has done everything it can to speak Riley into existence. Scott has no control of that
