re: Aranda’s record is 12-9. Is a lazy hire and people only want him bc he’s familiar.

So lemme get this straight. One of the most referenced “whales” people would like to get is Rhule. His record the last few years

Baylor
2017 1-11
2018 7-6
2019 11-3

Panthers
2020 5-11
2021 5-7

So he’s the hottest thing since sliced bread, but Aranda is knocked for doing just like Rhule at the same school and not having a great first year ... though he has had a better second with a possible conference championship coming. Make it make sense!!

He’s out coached the golden boy Lincoln Riley every time they faced off.

Are we ignoring that he was the assistant HC and the adult in the room doing most of the heavy lifting while Ed cheat leaded his way to a title in 2019v

But but "he's one of us"

Ok, that really doesn't work with Dave. That worked with the Orgeron crowd, but Dave is a Hawaii guy from Southern California. Hardly "one of us" material, and that argument is silly.

If you want to make the argument that anyone who has previously coached at LSU shouldn't be hired because of the "one of us" crap, then you'd turn down Saban and Kirby too.

Aranda inherited an 11 win team.

Baylor was 7-6 with Jim Grobe the year before Rhule took over. That next year they were 1-11 with Rhule.

Also, Rhule's 11-3 season included 0 wins vs ranked teams. He lost to all 3 ranked opponents.

Rhule's a good coach, but it wasn't like he was slaying giants in 2019.

Aranda is taking a team to its conference championship in only his second year. At Baylor
Baylor played for the conference title and won 11 games the year before Aranda arrived. Aranda then proceeded to win 2 games the very next year.

Fired his OC after 1 season. What gives anyone confidence he would make the right hires on the other side the ball? Just doesn’t have the body of work.

There was nothing there.
