Dude won a NC at Ohio State with that offense but sure, it couldn’t work in the SEC

Hey which QB on our roster do you think can handle running 10,15,20 times a game? Why didn't that offense win a NC at Texas in a much weaker conference? I could go on but you are clearly not bright enough or watch enough football to understand!

Matt Corral ran it 29 times against Tenn! He's hasn't been the same since. So tell me how running your QB in this conference that much is gonna work.

OSU ALWAYS has a good QB. Maybe it’s the players OR MAYBE ITS THE SYSTEM.

Why is it so wrong to try to emulate something that works? Having the QB ALSO being a threat to run is A HUGE ADVANTAGE. Case in point is Joe Burrow. He ran enough to keep the defense honest and open up passing lanes.

It would have been crazy to run Burrow 15 times a game but not 5 times. Conversely it would be stupid to NOT run Ehlinger 15 times bc, you know, THAT IS WHAT HE WAS REALLY GOOD AT.

I don’t want a great recruiter as much as I want someone who can close the deal.

When did I post anything about the current LSU roster suiting the offense? Not sure what Matt Corral has to do with anything either as he is clearly not the type of QB Herman would look to run his offense.

I don’t want Herman as the OC but blanket statements such as “he runs his QB too much to be successful in the SEC” are just lazy and ignorant.

downvote the piss out of the idea of a second dose of Aranda Brady.

No one is downvoting because they don't want it. This is not a restaurant where you get to order a head coach and pick an OC and DC as your two side dishes.

Brady won't be coming back to college as an OC. I doubt he would come as a head coach, but definitely not as OC. Aranda is not coming here as DC.

You are being downvoted because you seem to be the only one who doesn't understand that we can't have Aranda and Brady.

And tell Herman he can't kiss the players.

At least he didn't discriminate. He kissed all players equally.

Aranda/Brady

No one is against this. People don't think he'd leave the NFL OC job for the one he just left.

It makes no sense...you don't understand context apparently.

Herman offense runs the QB too much. Walker Howard is not coming here to run the ball 15-20 times a game. Why do you think Ehlinger was always beat up at Texas?

He designed the offense around the strengths of his players. Ehlinger was a better runner than passer.

Ehlinger had 3 more carries per game in his time at Texas than Burrow had in his time at LSU.

Ehlinger 2018: Att: 164-482-16
Ehlinger 2019: Att: 163-663-7

Burrow 2018: Att: 128-399-7
Burrow 2019: Att: 115-368-5

Semantics Lol Burrows runs were scrambles and QB draws. If you tell the difference in how Joey B was used in the run game and what Herman was doing a Texas, that's just dumb!

So were many of Ehlingers. Your original point was the number of total runs and potential hits that would put a qb at risk in the SEC.

Manziel ran over 13 (1 more than Ehlinger) times a game and I don't recall him missing games.

Tebow ran almost 15 (3 more than Ehlinger) times a game after becoming the starter and I don't recall him missing games.

Maybe it can work in the SEC with the right QB. That said, Herman is smart enough to design the offense around his QB. I don't think he would have Nuss running it 15 times a game.

We would need to hire someone who can recruit if that is our combo

WTF?

Aranda may or may not be a good recruiter, I don't know. I suspect some of that narrative is put forth by people who are championing another coaching candidate and probably had its roots in Derek's binder. Our current HC was an ace recruiter. Your HC needs to be a guy who can give you the proper targets for recruiting more than a great recruiter himself.

Herman has had a reputation as an excellent recruiter, I thought.
