re: Apparently, Rick Stansbury is already posturing for the LSU bball job

Sounds like Jerry Meyer is doing everything he can to get Rick Stansbury at power conf. job at some point in the future. I don't think it's any secret that barring some drastic change, this is probably Jones' final season at LSU. That said, I highly doubt there is some kind of master plan to keep Robinson from playing at WKU so Stansbury can sell a package deal to LSU next year. I don't think Stansbury is that cunning, and I'm certain Joe Alleva isn't. This is just wild speculation by some writer.
shite, if LSU would think about hiring Rick Stansbury why not just bring John Brady back? We could pretend it was the early/mid 2000's all over again. Get Stansbury back in the league AND John Brady!!! Then again, Joe Alleva will be making the hire which means that LSU will go on some "nationwide" search for the best coach in the land; balk whenever that coach wants to negotiate a huge salary, then go find Ron Abernathy somewhere and give him 3 million dollars more than anyone else in the country would

let's hope they keep it in house for the next hire again. we're good at doing that.
Think we could lure Ricky Blanton off the radio table?

He actually pays LSU to coach here

So if we root for the team to suck this year, we can get Stansbury and Mitch ROb next year?
Hell yea fam

Yea lets sit back and watch sackless Alleva make another hire. Get your popcorn gifs.

Stans has wasted talent as well. No thanks.
Like who?
MSU has had one player drafted in the first round since 1999, when Stansbury took over, and 3 more in the 2nd round. 4 total players drafted in the last 17 years.
NBA doesn't give a shite what you do in college. they draft on potential. There hasn't been much potential at MSU over the years.
LSU has had 13 players drafted since 1999, 5 first rounders.
MSU has made the tourney more times that LSU has since Stansbury became the coach.

just hire Chris Blair. LSU's already paying him to be at these shitshow basketball games.

Most state fans were glad to see him go. An SEC retread hire is about as exciting as watching Johnny Jones' teams try and break down a 2-3 zone.

And he would be the best coach the mens program has ever had
Dude won 64% of his games at State.. MISSISSIPPI FREAKIN STATE
He won the SEC West 5 times while he was there. LSU had only done that 4 times during the 20 year period that there were divisions.

Rick Stansbury would be 10000000000000000000000x more exciting than Johnny Jones.
But that is still not saying a lot. I think he could win a lot of games at LSU and recruit the state really well.

You mean the terms or what color crayon was it written in?

I still can't bring myself to do this. I still want to see the team win, and be entertaining in doing so. I just can't root against them.
But man do I want Jones gone.

If this were to happen I wouldn't be surprised of JB would be one of his assistants. He's said he'd do it and it's way more likely he'd work under Stansbury than JJ.

A friend and I were sitting in College Dr Chilis bar sweating a ballgame back in 93-94ish, when a fellow a table over says "You boys obviously have a vested interest", it was MSU HC Richard Williams, I said "yes we do, and tomorrow I'm on you at -2.5", he chuckled saying "winning in BR is tough", I said "nah, you own em lately", we had a great conversation for a bit, funny guy. His young stoic sidekick Stansbury you could tell was going to be HC material soon, serious guy. At the time they were owning Dale and LSU and on way that Final Four soon after, he had built MSU into a stout program( I praised what they had done in being able to sell 4 yrs in Starkville to recruits)
They found overlooked La talent, as both considered the LSU job and La recruiting grounds to be an underrated southern gem..they admittedly coveted it.
P.S. The next day MSU squeezed by the Tigs in PMAC by 3..won by the hook.
