It’s often just leverage. “He hasn’t signed the ole miss extension!!!” Yes, this is Sexton 101. Then when you include the trolling nature of Kiffen, who is coaching at one of our rival schools, it’s like the perfect recipe for getting egg on our faces. I just hope all of the eggs aren’t in the same basket.

LSU was used as leverage with Lincoln Riley, Sexton doesn’t have the patent on that.

It's hard for me to see Kiffin coming here after we passed him up for BK a few years ago. He seems like the type of person that would hold a grudge for something like that.

It’s amazing to think that two agents have all the top coaches in college football locked up. That alone removes some of the hiring school’s leverage. They hold all the cards, and Sexton wrote the book on shaking schools down, makes his take that much higher.

I would bet my last dollar that Kiffin is lsu only target. This is exactly how we ended up with O and will probably end up with Wilson .

Recruits do it all the time. It’s not like it’s on their dime. And they went to Louisiana, not Berlin.

Wouldn’t that also eliminate UF? They passed on Kiffin the very same year… for Napier.
What would be more insulting: getting passed up for the coach at ND or the coach at ULL?

The only thing that matters is if the admin has a course of action if/when Kiffin says no. The fans don’t really matter

I’m going to assume guys that own private jets don’t like to be trolled. Sure they likely may not even know the actual use of the plane and it was just a ‘donation’ or what have you, but this would be a pretty big troll if that’s all it is.

The truth is, it ain’t that hard when you have a wanted commodity. Dude is likely just fielding calls… but some of you guys think he’s a literal puppet master pulling all the strings across the college football world.
Newsflash. If your agent gets you to sign the first deal that comes across the table, he either sucks or doesn’t actually think you have what it takes to improve your situation.

It should. It just seems his ex-wife has more say so than what I'd expect given their situation. And since she went to school there and her dad played there, I'd imagine it could be a little different. 
I'd definitely feel more disrespected getting passed up for Napier than BK.

Yes this was odd. They know fans are tracking planes, yet you use a LSU boosters plane and put Kiffin's family on it. Why not use NetJets and be subtle and keep it under wraps? Because they are creating leverage.
It is possibly a troll job for LSU just to create leverage against OM to get a bigger extension and a commitments for NIL money. They only way that this isn't a move to create leverage is if he knew all along he was going to LSU and he just doesn't care if it's out there now.

Kiffin had only been at OM, what a year? That would've been foolish for a program like LSU to roll the dice with him at that time. He flaked out and ran out on Tenn and fell on his face at USC. Needed Saban to rehabilitate his career. Then led FIU and was successful and then went to OM.
Now that he has proven his worth at OM, then you can feel better about going after him.

It is not trolling but it was done intentionally to create leverage. There is no reason to use an LSU booster’s plane from BR to Oxford.
Also, ask yourself what exactly his ex wife is accomplishing with a 5 hour visit to BR?
She could be in BR or Gainesville for a week with very few people knowing.
My guess is Sexton is extracting every last demand from Ole Miss before Lane signs his extension.
