Aranda isn’t on my second tier. He’s on my 1st tier and top 3 .

I don't see the parallel at all between Napier and Hallman
*Both were/are lower mid level programs in lower mid level conferences.
*Both have had relative successes as of late playing in "their lane".
*Neither have/had experience running a top 10 program, everything from record, facilities, fan support, etc. Hell, UL-L averages less than 19,000 for home games
*UL-L strength of schedule is currently #81. Much easier road for that perceived success.
*I can go on and on, but if you're gonna pay up to $9MM a year with all the other shite that goes along with all things LSU, go out and get the real thing as opposed to someone trying to build a resume. This is the SEC, not the Sun Belt.

Curly Hallman's success was tied to Brett Favre's career. no Favre; no success. Napier doesn't have a Favre type player playing for him. For the reasons you mentioned Napier might be the biggest risk out of Aranda, Tucker, and Napier, but he's no Curly Hallman
Posted on 10/25/21 at 3:14 pm to L.A.
ok, but other then Favre, their paths and background to success are similar.
Napier is good at what he does, but its 5 levels lower than all things LSU.

Any coach on that list is a step up from the last two.

so was meyer, brian kelly, chris peterson etc
P5 coaches dont normally move and no Napier path is nothing like Hallman.

Curley Hallman was probably a good teacher of old school football fundamentals. He was likely most qualified to be a DB coach at the college level, nothing more. All you had to do was listen to the man speak for 30 seconds to know he didn’t have the organizational acumen to run a major college football program.
If you have done even a minimal amount of research on Napier you’d quickly learn why he’s so highly regarded in the football coach world. Ideally, sure, it’d be nice if he’d spent his last three years coaching at a P5 program. But each case, each coach is different.
When picking coaches the really bright ADs have the ability to find the next great coach. And if he thinks it’s Billy Napier I have full confidence Woodward will hire him, regardless of what some fans will find comforting. When he wins they’ll come around.
Bottom line is Napier is qualified. Maybe not to all of the water cooler ADs out there, but to those who know he’s worth every consideration.
Side note RE: Hallman. He was being interviewed after one of the many losses LSU suffered under his watch. He said turnovers once again hurt the team. Specifically he said, “Turnovers have been our Achilles’ tendon all year.” All you could do was shake your head.

Some of the names on the 2nd tier are preferable to those on the first tier.

Bull fricking shite. If we end up with napier, aranda, or tucker and dont at least steal kiffin from ole miss. I will be livid.

uh, nether of them won a conference championship at the level they were coaching. If you are not proving yourself to be head and shoulders above other G5 teams, and coaches, then you are most certainly not ready for the SEC.

Because Napier talks nice? Why is how they talk always so important? You know theres a level of coach where they dont sound like a dumbass AND they have a good/experienced coaching resume?

Where's the evidence he's qualified based on whats provable? Just pointing to how he talks and the behind the scenes "respect" isn't selling me that he's a superior candidate to the other coaches within his tier (Mel Tucker, Dave Aranda).

Another, "people who know say he's good". This is bullshite. Why is all of this respect so silent? Show me what hes done on the field.

Yes, well there are a lot of decent coaches who dont talk like dumbasses. Just because Napier "sounds nice" doesnt make him a better candidate than your Riley, Kiffin, or Fickell.
I place Napier firmly in the Tucker and Aranda tier. I think Aranda is ahead of him simply because he's been at LSU and has seen exactly what success at LSU looks like and he's one of the best defensive minds in the land. Aranda is also proving at Baylor that being a defensive minded HC doesn't mean you will lack on the offensive side of the ball.
Aranda has been at Wisconsin and LSU, both large programs with national prominence and now he's been a head man at Baylor with success.

Here’s what I don’t get about the Napier/former orgeron crew.
“Those who know” think he’s elite per them. They act like he is Saban incarnate and everyone can tell.
Why the hell couldnt he get a spot higher than ULL? I’m going to take Lincoln Riley and Ryan day off the table because they stayed at their previous places. Otherwise every “known genius” assistant gets a mid tier power 5 job or higher and it’s been that way for forever.
Aranda got Baylor, Steve sarkisian-UW and then Texas. Mullen got miss state, Kirby got Georgia, bob stoops got Oklahoma, charlie strong got Texas. Muschamp got Florida on and on and on.
If everyone knows he’s an up and comer and he blows everyone away then why’d he have to go to ULL? It’s because the guy was never trusted to hold a high level power 5 coordinator job. If the guy couldn’t handle being a elite tier coordinator then how is he the next Saban?
